chiliwili69 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) Remarks: - Battery in pocket, so no weight in the head - Virtual Desktop will allow stream PCVR games - XR2+ Gen2 chip, so stream bandwidth limited to 200Mbps (H265) - specs not revealed https://www.uploadvr.com/samsung-android-xr-headset-ships-in-2025-hands-on/ Edited December 13, 2024 by chiliwili69 1
chiliwili69 Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 https://m.gsmarena.com/samsungs_project_moohan_xr_headset_appears_on_geekbench_with_snapdragon_xr2_gen_2_chip-news-67975.php Another Standalone headset with the same chip than the Play for Dream. So, same limitations to play PCVR (decoding limit of Adreno 740 is just 200Mbps for H265). So, it doesn´t matter how many pixels they put in the physical panel. It doesn´t look it will support DisplayPort over USB-C. Basically an Apple Vision Pro but in Android.
chiliwili69 Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 It is confirmed, it uses XR2+ gen2 chip, which same bottleneck than Quest3 for PCVR since no DisplayPort option is there. So same 200Mbps bandwith. 4K per eye with 29 million pixels, same resolution than Crystal Super but definetely it will not deliver same image quality. Why Samsung doesn´t include a DP Alt Mode over USB like the standalone HTC Focus Vision. And, why they don´t put the battery in the back side to compensate the weight? It is as simple as that!
chiliwili69 Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 officially presented now. Price is 1799$. https://www.roadtovr.com/samsung-galaxy-xr-headset-price-specs-release-date/ As said before, with the same 200Mbps streaming PCVR bandwith it is like the PlayForDream headset, high definition 4K panels underutilized if used for PCVR. The Quest3 offers same bandwith for one third of the price and with controllers. As with the PlayForDream, I am not interested in try it.
