Mysticpuma Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) From.TFS: "Hello All Thanks for your assistance in testing the VR Beta. 👍 We are now at a critical stage in testing. We have zeroed in on the sources of the various crashes which have been an issue with the Beta. To pinpoint these issues, we have stripped down the Beta to focus on the code areas which are the likely source. We are requesting as many of the testers as possible conduct tests in accordance with the notes in the update below: https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38278 We are confident we are almost at the point of resolving the issues... but we can definitely use your help. Those of you who want to see VR implemented, please consider taking the time to run these tests as well as posting your results in the thread. Thanks again to all for your patience and support ! You will only be able to see that thread if you are a registered beta tester. If you are a beta tester, just go to Steam, update your game, clear the cache and you are good to go. c19580 Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) What are the improvements? how does one become a beta tester? Edited December 5, 2024 by c19580

You have to explain what kit you will be testing with. https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/member.php?u=1223

You will be using a stripped down version of the game with none of the visual improvements planned for TF6. This has been done to isolate any crashes to those related to VR and nothing else. So there is nothing new to see in this beta (no TrueSky or new landscape textures or new trees). If you partake as a beta tester though, then the sooner you might see these new additions.
Blitzen Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 May I highly suggest Beta testers give this test a try, and report their results .I think the folks at ATAG are getting pretty close to rounding up the bugs that have plagued us for so long... 3

Are you able to use the new beta build for stock and FMB created missions with old Speedtree and cloud sprites or only for the test mission?

Not yet...I have been busy with the test missions which finally( for me,) have been quite successful this afternoon.🥰 2 3
Mysticpuma Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 I know we don't get official announcements here anymore, so by way of an update, unofficially, it appears the latest VR Beta release is very stable for the majority 👌. Testing continues. 2 1 1

The latest beta runs all the stock missions and FMB created missions just without foliage, buildings or TrueSky. Whilst that sounds a bit rubbish it is still a lot of fun to play in VR, especially over the channel! Thus far the freezing issue seems to have been resolved which is a major step forward. Since getting into VR back in the DK2 days nearly a decade ago I have longed for a decent Battle of Britain VR experience and this really seems to be it. The VR implementation is excellent in terms of performance with large numbers of aircraft and features. The crashing issue has plagued roll out, testing can be frustrating when at any time it may freeze but it is also a lot of fun doing quick missions. There is still work to do but it feels like we are much closer to a future release over the last week or so. The fact the crashes existed with all the stuff mentioned above removed and have been potentially solved fills me with hope that putting them back in will be successful. The development pace isn't what anyone would wish for but I am glad TFS have stuck with it. 3 2 2
Blitzen Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Any further updates being considered for this month for CloD. Just wondering because I’ll be on a long trip and if the answer is a negative ,it will allow me not to check in everyday.Of course I won’t be near my PC for that time but I like to stay in touch esp. if there is something new for CloD when I get home… ( I know I’m not holding my breath for semi-promised release on FaF Dieppe…)
