As from yesterday I have improved the effects,mainly the no mans land explosions,more ww1 like flak,battlesmoke effect over the trenches,also included are ww1 missions pack

Plus tracer smoke taken out as this is more realistic for 90 per cent of ww1 planes,it would be nice to have option in great battles to turn tracer on and off.

the tracer effects are very badly done in great battles

Not one to comment on this forum. However. I have been using this mod pack since version 2 and now require it as an essential mod. Well done JSO another fantastic update. Much appreciated, You Sir are a Steely Eyed Missile Man.

After updating to 6.001 mod refuses to activate with the error - “File copy error for Mod ‘The Great War Mod Pack v5’, the Mod cannot be installed”. What could be the reason? Yesterday everything worked fine before the update.

Really excited to try this....your mods are excellent!   Does this mod interfere with the Enhanced WWII mod?

I installed the mod with no problems whatsoever.

The ambience is fantastic, the experience haunting... but what's the story with the airfields?

Something seems to be missing as they are placed in the middle of the fields, on all bumpy terrain, even at low hillsides...is it a bug?

The placing of the airfields has nothing to do with the mod

 When I uninstall the mod the airfields are back to normal!

Could be another mod conflicting?

I do not know,I have not changed any airfields in this mod

The missions in the pack are made with vanders quick mission generator,so maybe 🤔 that’s got something to do with it,I do not know

@Sandinourcoffee6Is this mod compatible with the IL-2 Enhanced modpack? If so, does load/install order matter?

I'm asking about this for multiple mods for both my benefit and also to have an up-to-date idea of what mods can and cannot play together for anyone similarly new and trying to navigate incorporating some of these experience boosting mods.

The mod is best played with no other mods installed,if you mix mods sometimes they overwrite and cause problems

On my harddisk I found a file "The Great War Mod Packv7.zip", 2023, 82.029 KB. What's this then?

Hello JSOFlyer69 / Sandinourcoffee6,

It is my experience that the airfields to do get deleted (as mentioned by Elephant ~4months ago) with this modpack: "The Great War Mod Packv6."

I am using JSGME and this remains to be the case after uninstalling all other mods, verifying game files through Steam, and only activating this mod.

The problem is definitely with how the game handles the 4 subfolders in \graphics\ ... \LANDSCAPE_WesternFront_au , \Landscape_arras_sp, \LANDSCAPE_WesternFront_sp, \landscape_westernfront_su.

Deleting these 4 folders (or renaming them with the backup extnesion .bak) brings the airfields back, however the beautifully done No-man's Land is in these folders and also disappears. :(

The effects remain, from what I can tell, working without problem and without conflict. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trying to keep both airfields and no mans land, I have looked specifically with surfacetex.txt (since this was easy to manipulate):
Any changes here have not resolved the problem.
I changed the surfacetex.txt files to not reference the \surfacetex subfolder from a different \Landscape folder.
I.e.
\LANDSCAPE_WesternFront_au\surfacetex.txt
would only referecne
\LANDSCAPE_WesternFront_au\surfacetex\assets.dds
and NOT
\LANDSCAPE_Arras_sp\surfacetex\assets.dds
I doubt this did anything as I feel that the txt file is more of a 'user' guide rather than computer instructions (which would probably be in the surface.dat).  But it was easy to test and check.
My best guess is that a recent-ish patch broke the ordering of airfield assets.
I.e. surfacetex.txt
- tex=0,"graphics\LANDSCAPE_WesternFront_au\surfacetex\airfield_04.dds",0
does not produce an airfield because the game is looking for the airfield in tex=1 or tex=2.
Which results in no airfield assets to be generated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I wish I could be more help, but sadly I am not familiar with compiling .dds files and cannot test my own hypothesis.

Cheerio!
