Help with a joystick purchase

Greetings community,

So, I am thinking about changing my old joystick for something better. I don't want anything fancy with force feedback for instance, but certainly I want a reliable system to help me take off on my desk.

What does the community think about the Logitech X52 Flight Control System? Is it good with the IL-2 series of games? Is it easy to setup and assign keys to it?

I thank in advance any insights you give me!

Hey Cardolan!

That's the one I use. It's perfect for IL-2. There are better options, sure, but that one is good enough! 🫡

I would suggest going with actual quality. Either a VKB Gladiator or a Winwing Ursa Minor Fighter. And then either a TWCS throttle, or a VKB STECS MiniPlus/Standard or Winwing Orion2.

And it's better to ask on the HOTAS subreddit (or search for answers, since this question has been answered many times), than here.

Thank you very much. I'll search for the best option taking your advice in consideration. I hope to find the relevant hardware for sale in my country and within my budget.

Winwing and VKB have local/regional online stores only in some locations, and if you are from a country that has high tariffs when you import things personally, then getting these products can be prohibitively expensive.

Unfortunately people from these countries don't have these options that provide substantially better quality for a decent price. In that case a X52 or such may be the most reasonable choice.

I am using VKB Gladiator WW2 + VKB WW2 Throttle Combo + VKB T-Rudders

Great combination. Also in VR since different Buttons/Switches you "feel" make a lot of sense here.

Also all axes are very exact and resistance fits well.
