Speculations on whether the F9F is a Collector Plane, and whether there will be a 5th Piston engined aircraft as a Collector Plane have been moved into this thread:

Feel free to speculate there! This thread is for the jets! :)

We've gathered an impressive amount of data as well for the F9F - including an original, US-government issued 702-page maintenance manual. Amazing what one can find out there for sale. 🙂

So... any hint which version of the F9F is all of this data for? -F2 or -F4/F5?

It's the -2 model.

Also, for those who want to know what the Panther can do, read up on Royce Williams: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royce_Williams

John Glenn with his Panther.

A little duct tape and she's as good as new.

Another impressive, well-done, informative video.  The passion for technical accuracy and breadth of knowledge the developers bring is amazing.  It bodes well for IL -2: Korea and follow-on series! Way to go 1C Games Studio!

J35-A-17? So it'll be the F-84D variant we get? Unless they meant the J35-A-17D but just omitted the "D" so in that case it could be the F-84E.

Also among the main differences between the J35 and J47 is that the Allison J35 has an 11 stage axial flow compressor and an OPR of 5 whereas the General Electric J47 has a 12 stage axial flow compressor and OPR of 5.35.

Ah! Good catch. One of the menu mock-ups had an F-84G listed on it...

...so the question is now: Which variant... and will it be flyable?

It's the E variant that will be flyable - not sure right now which block it will be. Gs started only showing up in Korea in the fall of 1952 - but it's a possibility that one will be added at some point.

Ah, that makes sense! I had originally suspected it would be an E (but that GUI prototype threw me off). Thanks for the clarification!

Should point out that the F-94 did see service in Korea, and was afterburner equipped, so not quite right that none of the Korean War jets had them.

Ah! Interesting!

Also, as alluded to in the video, the first Mig-17 variants that were upgraded to have afterburners became operational during the Korean War. However, they were only deployed in Europe.
