Is the Zeppelin Shed New, Or Have I Just Missed It?

Quite the surprise on a FC IV QM tonight.  Could a Zep be far behind?  Just a static one would be fine, as long as it REALLY burns.

It´s fun to fly thru.

Yes, it's a new map object. They are marked on the map.

As I was going through the map I noticed that the last 5 new airfields were Zeppelin sheds ...

 

OK, they're probably just HP 400 targets, but anyway, let the wild, rampant speculation begin :)

Those 1C guys are very crafty Russians. Blind Freddy could see that those sheds mean that Zeps and the Channel Map are coming!

If you add the groups to the map you will see a group called "new airfields", which it mostly is - new airfields added to the map for FC4.  At the bottom of that list are four or five "airfields" that have the name "zeppelin shed".  They are what they say they are: zeppelin sheds.  

 

Nice Handley Page target if nothing else.

I saw that airfields too, they are in north-east part of the map, named "Zeppelin shed" and populated with arrays of fighters, at least in quick mission section. A nice addition.

Devs in ignorance thought Zeppelins were some sort of green house.

Who will make them?.. it seems that it would have to be a 3rd party, plus, they would need to be destructible, otherwise it's pointless having them.

True, but still, if they are just for 'scenery' but have no ability to be destroyed I can't see the use of them... on another similar note, does anyone know if the sheds themselves can be bombed and destroyed?

The sheds (or at least, the ones at Cognelée) aren't destructible in Quick Missions.

Considering the location and the lack of any other plausible targets nearby, all they tell you is that however you got there, if it wasn't intentional then you're very lost...

 

Nothing to stop mission builders adding some parked vehicles or similar as destructible targets for long-range bombing missions I suppose.

That's a good idea... hopefully they could be put inside the sheds so that there may be some smoke and fire visible.

You do get some smoke and fire if you hit the airship sheds, but no lasting damage.

The buildings next to the Cognelée airship sheds are destructible too. A well-placed 1650-lb bomb from an O-400 will wipe out a whole heap of them, which almost makes the effort of hauling it that far satisfactory.
