How's the Pup?...

Anyone flying the Pup yet?

What are peoples first impressions?... as it should be or better than expected?

I gave it a brief test. Turns on a sixpence. No obvious vices. I'm not really current enough with FC aircraft to make comparisons though.

Holding blip switch for extended periods causes engine to die.  Cannot restart engine at that point.  Bug or feature?

Just another uber Entente machine to give them an advantage in every time period.

Single gun, weak engine.. turns well.  Doubt it out performs the albs,  certainly not the Dr1.   Just my opinion..

Feature. Rotary engines were restarted by swinging the prop. They generally needed hand priming first. Good luck doing all that in the air.

I assumed the engine can't be restarted because the plugs get fouled.

It is structurally weak... just lure your opponent into the vertical!

It is a lovely plane, but it can't dive or pull sharp turns when going quickly.

P.S. When the Pup appeared it made the Airco D.H.5 and Roland D.II obsolete due to its excellent high altitude performance (really what we'd call medium altitude today).

It handles well, but I kind of hate the big padded bit that's front and center in the cockpit that makes it hard to see your gauges (and, AFAICT, impossible the see the compass). I wish there was an option to remove that thing.

It out-turns both the D.III and the D.Va. The D.III is a little bit faster, but we're talking a few kph at sea level. The Albatroses (Albatrii? What is the plural of Albatros?) have much more powerful engines, but they are heavy, drag-y planes in spite of their aerodynamic appearance. I do pretty well against D.IIIs in the Pup. You have to be careful about conserving ammo, but that's true of a lot of allied fighters.

The Pup supposedly out-turns the Dr.I by a pretty comfortable margin, too, and is also a little bit faster.  I haven't actually gone up against one in the Pup yet, though, and it's dangerous to make combat efficacy predictions based on specs alone.

I like it, aside from the fact that I find the cockpit layout annoying (you have to lean in one direction or another to see pretty much any gauge). It does exactly what it says on the tin: small, nimble fighter that's reasonably friendly to fly.
