I've done a integrity check in steam. I've done a compelte uninstall and install, including deleting the il2 folder.

Yet I get the same crash. After a few minutes my screen (both monitor and vr) freezes. But the sound and game continues. And naturally my aircraft crashes into the ground. The screen is so frozen. I can't turn of IL2. I can't get any programs up. As the screen is frozen and I can't get anything up. And all I can do is turn of the computer the hard way.

I'd suspect a hardware issue of some kind: most likely with your graphics card. Start by checking that it isn't overheating.

It only happens in IL2. I can run DCS for hours upon hours without any problem.

Different applications can put loads on different hardware components.

As far as I know it only happens in singleplayer games, I did a 2 hour game online this weeked just fine, but even a simple singeplayer mission crashes after a few minutes.

Different games put a different strain on the hardware. It can still be an issue with your system.

What GPU? there seems a problem with f.i. a RTX 4080 to do with the connectors to the power supply when strained,

usually with incidentally a black screen a friend experienced.

Latest NVIDIA driver is 566.14, maybe install it without experience and the GPU sound chip drivers?
