I wouldnt expect highly complex FMs but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Strap on your VR, use your flight sim gear and go have some fun in a hopefully pretty optimised experience.
Blitzen Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 If there were accurate FM’s we’d probably all die on our first take off attempts! ( I’ll probably buy this while waiting for Microprose ‘s VR B-17’s, CloD’s Dieppe ( and ,sigh ….VR fix…) Combat Pilot, and of course new add-ons to Flying Circus, and , if you really really twist my arm I suppose KOREA….) Any idea when it will release besides 4th quarter of’24?

I have tested this in detail 2022/2023. (some videos by me in the War Thunder Thread).

I assume War Thunder doesn't have VR, but Aces of Thunder will .I'll buy it as a Christmas present to myself, because aside from Flying Circus 4,which releases next week, none of the others will be available for some time... Oh BTW One will probably have to buy additional aircraft to add to the stock of 2 or 3 aircraft for Aces of Thunder correct or will many more be in sim on release? Edited November 16, 2024 by Blitzen

You are welcome, No, War Thunder has since a very long time a good working VR, I use it since early 2020. In respect of required PC performance VR of War Thunder is absolutely great. Aces of Thunder seems to be an ONLY VR game. I am not 100% sure but according to the Steam Information the game includes 20 flyable plane. For me the main question is how good will be the mission design and which mission editors / quick mission generators will be available. For War Thunder is a huge Full Mission Builder available, but it even much more difficult to learn than the one of IL-2 GB. But I was able create and fly some interesting missions. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/78916-war-thunder/page/7/#findComment-1266352 And some of the SP missions are acceptable too (flown by me with realistic settings) Edited November 16, 2024 by kraut1

I wish you success! I have seen in the CLOD VR Beta Forum that you have a Reverb G2. This should work. I found a post to start VR with a G2, maybe helpful for you too: https://steamcommunity.com/app/236390/discussions/4/3271309684521950049/?l=schinese&ctp=1 Concerning Joystick configuration you will see the default settings are a strange for filght sim pilots. But it is possible to adjust them as normal for flight sims.

I got it working with VR thanks to you and the link you provided. What did the trick was using the desktop icon to start the sim and make my VR ad “Easy Anti Cheat” preferences there….So late last night I made the first baby step..but now what? I can assign an aircraft to fly ,out of the limited 30’s aircraft ( they are pretty, but I’m guessing I have to earn by play or pay for newer better aircraft ?)and get a chase view of same ,and kinda fly it ( how do I assign a cockpit view any how? Do you have a screenshot of your settings? I know asking a lot..sorry…) over a map of somewhere. I can assign controls to my FFB joystick ,probably. BUT if I’m a SP kind of sim player I’m not sure what will be the point aside from having a beautiful sight seeing tour of somewhere. All this comes on the heels of a massive FCIV update yesterday which is worth a few days or a lot more, and news of MS Flight Generator 2024… What to do - what to do? But again thanks so much for getting me this far!

Even mostly in War Thunder some screenshots of my joystick settings = real flight sim settings. -importent the control mode!: example throttle axis pitch axis Roll axis Yaw axis REST OF VR (hard to find) I will add later some videos

I've been working most of the morning on all the various settings and have gotten many of them squared away, but these will be a real help! Hopefully , eventually I'll be able to do a SM! I only started thinking about War Thunder after seeing the Me-163 video.Back in the IL-2 1946 days I loved trying to master the Komet-it was real fun! 1

There is a spanish map and BoF and BoB map available too. (Custom Battles can be used for air combat from ca. 1936 to 1941 because the choice of later bot planes is restricted) Edited November 20, 2024 by kraut1
Blitzen Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Kraut1 will get back to this today, have had my hands full with this and that ( and new Flying Circus planes,) Will do the set up as suggested and have time to view the He-51 video as well- what a pretty little thing- is the Fm ok? I must also try the Swedish (?) Gladiator as well and see if the cockpit interior is as good as CloD's? Not too long ago I did a Gladiator painting- it's always been a kind of second line favorite of mine! 1
Blitzen Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 I actually "flew" the Gladiator on a test mission. It was fun and the landscape was stunning, but I am beginning to think that it might prove difficult to obtain various WW2 aircraft 9 like the Me-163 , and perhaps a B-17 formation,) and the plane a SM with them. It might be just too much work, for the pleasure deroved? Oh BTW: The "competition" for CloD Dieppe. To be fair there have been no images of attending Allied & Luftwaffe fighters yet shown , so I'm guess release won't be as originally announced :next month. Still this is an impressive video, and far better PR-wise than we have had recently from the good folks at CloD...sigh... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dCShMFACeo&t=352s 1
