Rujo Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 (edited) I've scoured the internet and can't seem to find anyone else having the same issues I'm having. There was a hint of something similar in the DCS forums, but it seemed more isolated to that environment. The issue I'm having is vertical diplopia, no I don't look like Sloth. The effect is just the same, its as though I need a vertical IPD setting to solve. It only happens in IL2, every other title (DCS, Elite, Automobilista, VR VOTL, Ironwolf, etc.) things behave exactly as expected. I upgrade from the OG Vive, and aside from poor resolution and screen door effect, I've never had an issue with it. Since moving to the Vive Pro 2, I've reinstalled drivers, reinstalled IL2, reinstalled Windows, all to no avail. Other oddities I've noticed: * With just the headset upgrade, tracking isn't as good as it was with the OG Vive. I'm not sure if its a issue with my hardware, but I had to adjust the throw on the lighthouses, and move to another part of my desk to have no break in tracking, where on the OG it was never an issue. I have the lighthouses laterally and to my back. Not ideal, but never had an issue before. * When I go to adjust the IPD in the headset, while in IL2, the IPD interface experiences the same issue. Very noticable this way as the text is stacked. * using the in-game IPD adjustment has no noticeable effect. * stepping through in-game graphics settings has no effect. (Presets and individual settings) I've tried min and max and numerous other settings. * There is are a number of OR (VR) related settings in startup.cfg. None of these have noticable changes to the vertical offset. (I had big hopes the or_ipd or or_sipd were going to be wins, but no joy.) * I was unable to force change resolutions, IL2 seems to read it from Vive Connect or SteamVR, any change I made was over-written on load). * Similarly changing various setting in SteamVR or Vive Connect as it relates to graphics, had zero impact. I did notice that prior to the menu loading in IL2 the hardware IPD adjustment looks normal but as soon as the menu loads, everything goes to hell. Last thing, with the issue present, the menu text is crisp and un-erred. There isn't any doubling of the text or other blurriness in the menus or briefing screens; however, all the 3D rendered elements, plane, pillars, workbenches all suffer from the same vertical duplicity. I'm at a loss. I decided to hang up VR previously because my declining eyesight and the resolution on the OG Vive. This this has been perfect in everything but IL2, and IL2 is really what I wanted to experience the most. Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome. Thanks, -R Edited November 1, 2024 by BBAS_Rujo
69th_Panp Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I would check to see if any of the cfg files you are adjusting are set to read only
Rujo Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 Are you suggesting to set as read only as to attempt to prevent IL2 from overwriting the settings I'm trying to force? I've not tried that. That said I'm not sure that is causing the issue. The only thing I've not tried is moving the headset to another machine to see if the issue follows. That would be the next step, as migrating or switching back and forth between the OG Vive and the Vive Pro 2 seems to have its own set of issues, that would likely invalidate any testing. Just seems odd that only IL2 is affected, and that the impacts and behavior extends beyond the game itself into the IPD adjustment screens. Of course, all the screenshots above are manufactured to give folks an idea of what is being seen, goggles on. Appreciate the feedback. -R
Rujo Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 Did some additional testing, including unplugging other monitors, moving the headset and linkbox between various USB and DPs. Also, did some additional comparison of settings outside of IL2. I did notice one oddity, but not 100% exclusive to IL2. If I go into SteamVR Video Setting while in title, I noticed that FOV and World Scaling in IL2 behave differently that other titles like AutoMobilista 2, and Dirt Rally 2.0 for instance. Moving the sliders in those titles showed no impact at all while in IL2 the changes are drastic. Similarly titles like Tin Can and Spin Rhythm XD behave similar to IL2 but without the same double vision. What I did notice in these other titles, is when I reduced the FOV slider from 100% I started to see the double image appear as it does for me in IL2. Its almost as if the 100% FOV in IL2 is just under where it needs to be, to where if I could increase it beyond 100% it would clear up the issue. Of course this is just conjecture with no way to test, at least no apparent way. The final observation I noticed, if I go into Video Setting via the VR controller, and then go to adjust IPD, the hardware IPD adjustment returns to normal, if I then page into IL2 it returns. Paging out of IL2 into the SteamVR interface clears everything to normal, until I re-enter IL2. Next step will be to try and connect the Headset to a different computer, but with all different hardware. It may at least rule out an issue with the headset itself. I'll post back once that has been attempted. If any of you that read this are using Vive Pro 2 hardware, would you mind sharing your Vive Console, SteamVR, and IL2 settings with me? Thanks, -R
Rook_US Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Just popping in to say I have the same issues with my HTC VP2. I've been digging around and still haven't found a fix for this. This has been an issue for well over a year. Took a break from the game because I couldn't stand being crosseyed anymore. Months later and it's still present. Just to be clear, I'm having issues with, both, horizontal and vertical alignment. I can get horizontal pretty close with ingame "IPD" adjustment, but the vertical alignment is still very off.
