HitmanTurkey Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) I've recently started playing a career with bf109 f4 and the squadron has the ex desert paint scheme equipped as standard. I wanted to add kill markings to my plane so I'm looking for a template for this paint scheme or how to make the standard ex desert paint scheme template so I can add kill markings. I'm new to skinning so maybe this is a dumb question. Update: I found some DDS skins that have the paint job that I could edit but when I open them in GIMP they are kind of transparent and checkard. Not sure how to edit a DDS in gimp and I can't find one that is PSD. Edited November 2, 2024 by HitmanTurkey

But if you only want to add some black lines (or beams) you could try just to modify directly a dds. The checkered graphic can be switched off by deactivating the alpha channel: before you export the new dds activate the alpha channel again. For export use the shown compression: This would be a primitive solution. Don`'t use in this way white or other bright colors because due to the not updated alpha you could get extreme sun reflections. Don't forget I am a novice in this topic too! Have a look to this manual: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13726-quick-start-guide-to-skinning-with-gimp/

When done editing image ,flatten the image and export as dds file. Where it says "mipmaps" choose "generate mismaps" and for filter choose "box" Edited December 12, 2024 by Sheriff88 1
