Guest deleted@400649 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, its nice to finally join your community. I have been reading the forum for quite some time, since I have been playing Great Battles since January this year. I'm currently own Battle of Stalingrad and Kuban playing only Soviets and Germans, and I grew hungry for more WW2 airframes depcitions. I have been into the history of airplanes since childhood, always fascinated by the technology, designs and roles they played during different wars or campagins. Before IL-2 series ( andgenerally any air sim titles) I played some very arcade-like games (War Thunder, Wings of Prey, Ace Combat). I tried the IL-2 1946 first, and really enjoyed it because of the meticulous approach to sole concept of piloting, as well as the fact the planes here feel heavy, beefy and a short burst can be as deadly as volleys of lead. I like the fact that this game teaches you how to be patient or react cautiosly. Pleasant transition from really fast-paced titles. However, its an old game and some visuals did not age well plus I'm having troubles with my GoG version. So I tried Great Battles with Eastern Front modules, since really wanted to fly specific planes like; Bf109, Ju87 or IL-2 and La-5 - eventually ended up using Fw190s and Yak-1/9s too. So now, time has come for the Western Front planes and I aim to fly mainly P-38, perhaps P-47s and some Spitfires after some time. For now, I can only buy one Western Front module, and I'm more interested in the Battle of Normandy for purely historic preferrence. The questions is; how common is the P-38J in the BoN, if it was released as BoB collector's plane? I know that P-38J is a late 1943 airframe, but that also depends on the series (and from BoS and BoK I know that some planes can be used in both modules - although only/mainly for specific time periods/campaigns). Thus, can some who owns the Battle of Normandy and the P-38J, tell me about its availability in the Pilot Career mode? What's the time span in which P38 can be used, does it include majority of the BoN's campaigns? I will probably buy all modules in the future, but it really depends on mine sole desire to play a particular plane/s. And this time its P-38 - one of my fav planes of WW2. Thank you for your time! I would be really greatful for your answers!
