Just curious, does anyone know if there are plans to add a DB-7 to the Russian lineup? It may be an American plane but the USSR got 1/3 of all DB-7s constructed via lend lease.

So far the devs have only mentioned one aircraft that they are interested in adding quickly: the I-16. Based on some of the polls done it seems like the IAR80/81, MC.202, P-40, and Hurricane II are all being thought about. No mention of the DB-7, IL-4, Ju88, or other of the more bomber oriented types yet.

The best answer is probably.... wait and see. The devs are focused on release. Post release we'll see what's in store.

I can't remember if any A-20/Bostons/DB-7s were at Stalingrad. It may not be the right time to introduce the aircraft until we move to a theatre where it was present.

I hope in the final version we will recive many new kinds of airplanes as it was in the Battle of Stalingrad - not only 10, but for sure as A.I. bombers, fighters, transport and recon.

I was just reading about this, and althouhg I am not sure if there were any at Stalingrad, they were present at that part of the front.

Probably good enough. The FW190A-3 has already breached the "purity" of Stalingrad only aircraft in favour of aircraft available at the front during this time.

As the devs have stated (if I got that right?) , the future lies directly where the path of BoS is heading.

So hopefully there will be as long path as original Il-2 provided us.

What will be interesting to see where the devs head (when, not if..I hope!) the title turns out to be successful.

Be it to the early days (start of Barbarossa, france/euro) , mediterranian or Caucasus/Kuban/Kursk. I think the devs have good enough

tools that they can check out where the main clientee is at that point and they will do their decision where to head from that on.

Its been stated that AI only aircraft will not be added. So don't expect to be shooting down cargo laden Ju-52s anytime soon.

Where was that stated? Cant remember reading that in the dev reports? Just curious.

Edit : Grammar..

All aircraft in game use full FM and DM and systems same as pilot controlled, so it is almost the same amount of work to create an AI only A/C, For an AI one the only difference would be the cockpit 3D, AS far as I know only RoF and BoS use this method to ensure accurate AI flight characteristics, which is great but the downside is a much higher compute load, however all new aircraft will be flyable. This has been stated in many Dev talks but I am too lazy to track them down

A bunch of times in several Q&A's with the devs... much to my dismay. Some aircraft are important to the history but are less interesting to fly.

yeah. and what a bad decision that is for this battle or any other. just cannot believe there is not going to be any AI only aircraft in this game.  just ridiculous.

I understand what you mean. I don't think some aircraft are less interesting however, rather some are handled in a less interesting way.

Bombers could be thrilling if crew members fulfilled their actual roles. If you could ask your navigator for a heading or current position for example. Or have the bomb aimer guide you on the bomb run. Gunners could chatter. Crew could be ordered in and out of positions or to the aid of the injured. A one man band in an aircraft filled with mannequins is less so.

Transports could be great too if the game mechanics supported them correctly. Lord knows I've already gone on about the finer points of that enough already though, so I shan't waste my breath again here.

Cool aircraft with lots of service in Russia.

I doubt we'll see it though, it's fairly unknown even if it would be an opportunity to sneak an American aircraft into Stalingrad. I think they're better off going for the Hurricane to please Westerners though.

FIV - I've probably asked before, but did you ever play "B-17" by Microprose? It had many of the features you mentioned, and they made the game really gripping.

I found the flight length (England to Berlin in real time - the time-skip function stopped every time the wounded AI crew complained, so ie about very two seconds) prohibitive, but greatly enjoyed the human side of things.

You could name your crews, aircraft, and if someone was killed, you had to sign the KIA letter. So good, in many ways.
