Game not starting in VR anymore

I have Il2 separately from steam. I have htc vive pro. Yes I have enabled vr from both launcher and in game, tried even disabling and re-enabling them. I have tried with steam vr off and on, also both with steam vrhome off and on. The game just won't start in vr mode. I have played this in vr sometime ago so I know it can work somehow. Other VR games from steam work normally. I also tried adding the game to steam and launching through it, but no change.

 

What I did find is that desktop is projected in vr behind my head, but this does still not give a vr view, nor does the game respond to any head movements still.
