GenMarkof007 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 (edited) S! All, Did the Germans raid the Isle of Wight? ---- In late 2016 Churchill's Last Wartime Secret: the 1943 German Raid airbrushed from history by Adrian Searle was published by Pen & Sword. The book boldly claims that the Germans mounted a successful commando raid against the Isle of Wight and that the British Government, even today, is trying to cover it up. ---- More about this book and story... http://www.pillbox.org.uk/blog/245381/ ---- Edited October 6, 2024 by GenMarkof007
GenMarkof007 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 (edited) The short storyline of Chapter 3! ---- The Isle of Wight fictional battles Chapter 3 - The Battle of Niton, Isle of Wight (WWII) Period: Summer 1942, with the British mostly in North Africa and Germans looking to cross the Channel. Location: Niton, a small village on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight, characterized by its rugged coastline, open fields, and proximity to the strategic port of Ventnor. The Strategic Context By 1942, the Germans had consolidated their control over Europe, and in this alternate reality, they managed to occupy some area on the Isle of Wight, turning it into a strategic outpost to defend against the Allied forces. The Isle serves as a base to control the English Channel and threaten the southern coast of Britain. German Forces: 20th Panzer Division The 20th Panzer Division, a highly mobile armoured division, has been tasked with defending the Isle of Wight, focusing on the southern coast near Niton. They are entrenched in defensive positions with a mix of Panzer IV and Panther D (limited) tanks, supported by anti-tank guns and infantry. Coastal fortifications have been hastily built to prevent an amphibious assault. Commander: General Major Hans von Eisenberg, a seasoned veteran of the Eastern Front, led a mix of experienced troops and conscripts. Allied Forces: 4th Canadian Armoured and 51st British Armoured Divisions The Allies have launched Operation Niton, a coordinated attempt to retake the Isle of Wight and push the Germans back. The plan calls for a combined amphibious and airborne assault, with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division moving from the southern East coast, while the 51st British Armoured Division strikes from the North to encircle the German forces near Niton. Commander: Major General Robert Fraser (4th Canadian) and Major General John Anderson (51st British), leading the charge. The Battle of Niton (June 30, 1942) After a defeat of the Germans near Newport (chapter 1) and a Stalemate at Freshwater (chapter 2), the village of Niton becomes a critical battleground as Allied forces aim to capture it to secure the southern approaches to the Isle of Wight. Controlling Niton allows the Allies to safeguard supply routes from Newport to the southern towns and prepare for larger operations. On June 30th, the Allies launched Operation Niton, a coordinated attempt to retake the southern part of the Isle of Wight and push the Germans back. The plan calls for a combined amphibious and airborne assault, with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division attacking from the southeast coast, while the 51st British Armoured Division strikes from the northwest to encircle the German forces near Niton. The German 21st Panzer Division (Generalmajor Hans von Eisenberg), a highly mobile armoured division, has been tasked with defending the Isle of Wight, focusing on the southern coast near Niton. They are entrenched in defensive positions with a mix of Panzer IV, StugIII (limited=10) and Panther D (limited=15) tanks, supported by anti-tank guns and infantry. Coastal fortifications have been hastily built to prevent an amphibious assault. Good Luck! ---- Mission conditions: - June 30th, 1942 - 1100 hours. - Very cloudy with light winds from the Southwest. - Temperature: 28 C. - Mission duration: 3 hours + 10 minutes at the start (waiting time) - Intel will be available to the commanders (48 hours before the event) - recon photos will be given! - Please wait for the start signal and message, before rolling out of the tank bases. ---- It will be a tank-only battle and the lag issues of last time should be fixed.* (*We will have a backup mission if needed). ---- AAS PvP TC Event -- Chapter 3 - Operation Niton - The Isle of Wight Fictional Battles Sunday - Novermber 03/11/2024 - 19h UTC+2 (Paris Time) Edited October 23, 2024 by GenMarkof007
