Random Antique Shop...

Was coming back from the gym the last week and passed an antique shop I always pass. I've never paid it any mind until I saw a 48 Star U.S. Flag hanging in a box in a window and immediately pulled off. I thought to myself it could be a U.S. Navy Jack flown on a ship or sub during WWII. Turns out it was, and I was enthused. She said the store was closing and she and her husband were finally retiring, that everything had to go.

While the flag had grabbed my eye, and why I had come into the shop to begin with, it was the dozens upon dozens upon dozens of helmets stacked one upon another in a haphazard way that really peaked my interest. There were WWI and WWII helmets, with a slew of RKKA as well. Korean War Helmets, Dutch helmets from Indonesia, American helmets from Viet-nam, all kinds if them, just endless.

Then I found this for $450... Posted the pictures to a WWII helmet forum and they said that it wasn't refurbed, contained the original liner and chin strap, production numbers and issuance, and was easily worth $3500-$4200.

EDIT - I went back yesterday to check out a Fallschirmjager helmet. Will update.

$450 for a Stalhelm, M42? That seems excessive. Pricing one in the thousands is pure fantasy unless it was some SS helmet signed by the Führer himself.

I'd tell them to shove it, you being robbed my dude.

I think that you are getting swindled, my dude.

Sold it for $800. Not bad, IMHO. Picked a few more from her collection.

Wow...

So your focus is to make money on these historical items?

In my opinion, that is bad. 😟

But yeah, whatever, please ignore me.
