WWBiker_ Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Loving this Beyond unit got audio strap today and it’s just as impressive. This is size difference with Vive pro2 1 1
1Sascha Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Nice! Can't quite decide if that Vive is huge AF or if the Bigscreen is super tiny... almost looks like a house-kitten sitting next to a fully grown tiger.. 😄 S. 1
chiliwili69 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Yes, that BSB device is super light. I was also tempted to buy it, but two things refrained me when reading reddit about it: Bad edge-to-edge clarity and smaller FOV. What is your experience comparing with VivePro2?

IIRC the BSB sits pretty much between the Light and the full-fat Crystal price-wise, so it would be interesting to know how these two (three) compare. S.
WWBiker_ Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 Tad smaller fov then pro 2 just like wearing goggles in real life not a issue for me As far a edge to edge clarity I don’t see that problem but maybe my unit is better fitted then that persons the unit is made like a custom suit it’s imperative that it’s fitted and made for your face. Mine fits perfectly so no issues the lightness, comfortable strap ,great sound and most of all Color and clarity make it a winner for me. The pro 2 had the best picture till I got this but was like wearing a brick 🧱 and caused me neck issues. This is my 5 th HMD 2
jollyjack Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 (edited) Well, read a comparison test ... think i'll go after the quest 3. What's the weight of it? Guess i'll have to train my neck muscles first with the right amount of water: Edited October 5, 2024 by jollyjack

With the (pretty crappy) stock strap on it, it feels *very* light compared to the Rift-S and Reverb G2 I've used before. WRT weight alone, you could *almost* forget that you're wearing a VR-set. I put a Kiwi Elite Strap (w/out battery, €30) on it and that raises the overall weight quite a bit. Haven't weighed it, but according to amazon, the Kiwi weighs just under 400g on its own - so almost as much as the Q3 itself. If you're a "glass-is-half-full" kinda guy, you could say that it makes the Quest 3 a little less front-heavy. Feels like lots of other VR-sets I've tried/owned with the Elite-strap - perhaps still a bit lighter overall. In any case: I found it comfortable both with the stock strap and more so with the Kiwi... but I've never worn the stock strap for more than 20 mins or so and got rid of it on day two as the Kiwi arrived pretty quickly. Only drawback I can see - and that's more of a general thing with this sort of strap - is that all the elements it adds to the rear of your head make flying in a high-seat-back chair (like a gaming chair) less than ideal as you'll either hit the headrest with the strap whenever you lean back just a bit or you have to put the seat-back at a flatter angle and then lose back support. Aapje Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Overall weight doesn't really matter that much. It's about where the weight is and how you carry it. Balancing out the weight by adding more weight at the back is a proven method to take weight off your nose and cheeks, and distribute it more to the top of your head, for example. There is a reason why many people in certain countries carry weight like this:
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Quest 3 with additional battery doesn't hurt, if I can play fast paced shooter/ sport game, the sim head movement is just nothing to that.
dryheat94 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 IMHO the stock Q3 strap is horrendous. It puts all the weight right on your face and nose. I ended up getting a strap that has a gear on the side of it that lets me keep the facial interface completely off my face, with all the weight carried on my forehead/head. I can use it for hours. Head straps are a personal thing, depending on how much tolerance your head and face can take before they feel uncomfortable. KKCOBVR Q3 PRO Comfort Battery Pack Head Strap 10000mh
WWBiker_ Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 Beyond is 125 grams no balancing required the Vive was very front heavy and caused me to stop after an hour or so
Aapje Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 @dryheat94 Yeah, the default Quest jockstrap is unusable for anything but a quick demo. I see a head strap replacement as mandatory. The downside of this is that it costs extra money. The upside is that unlike some other headsets, you can replace the head strap and there is a healthy market of options, so you can almost certainly find one that works for you, no matter what your head shape is*. * Probably, if you are into artificial cranial deformation, it may be an issue. 1

But of course, like you said, it does add to the overall price and it very much *is* a mandatory purchase. I don't think I'd want to use the stock-strap for any extended period of time. S.
