New Theatres

Good morning, is it possible that new theatres will be created in the future? Like atlantic/battle of England....Mediterranean theatre/Italy...Africa and Pacific?

Not in the Il-2 Great Battles series, it will be in the new series starting with Korea theatre for which, after Korea, it is already planned to develop a Pacific WW2 theatre.

IL2 team is not constricted by that anymore... they are free to do the Med, or the Battle of Britain if they so choose.

In any case new theaters are a LOOOOOOOONG way off.Korea appears to be the main priority.Why? That’s anybody’s guess…🤨

I really like IL-2 GB, but due to it's origin of the Rise of Flight WW1 engine GB had always some serious shortcommings in respect of radio communication with AI, with tower and simulation of the WW2 radars. Even the much more older, but WW2 optimized old IL-2 1946 had more advanced orders for AI flights and a whole squadron (but it was by far not perfect too). I myself install since many years in each IL-2 GB WW2 mission that I want to fly some groups with wingmen warnings and radar reports of planes with grid locations as makeshift solution.

Korea, that will simulate the technology of ca. 1945 to ca. 1953 planes, radio and radar will be an advanced IL-2 GB v2 WW2 simulation.

At least I hope this will be the case.

They better do a massive overhaul to AI, radio communication, and career mode for me to be interested in any theater in the future.

They're focused in on the Pacific after Korea, likely New Guinea, Solomons and Philippines. They may continue after with Iwo Jima and Okinawa and maybe Burma but I wouldn't expect a return to Europe WW2 by them for a long while.

 

I'm hopeful that once Korea is released they'll contract Ugra to do another WW1 series in the Korea engine starting with the Italian Front.
