LuftManu Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Hello friends and fellow aviation lovers, To mix things up a bit, and since I make videos, why not show my face as well? This way, you’ll know who’s behind the pixels, and it’s a better way to connect and communicate with all of you. Today, I want to share some news with you, as well as some of my future plans for Il-2 Sturmovik Great Battles and Il-2 Series. Korea. As many of you know, I’ve been part of this community for a while now (and enjoyed every moment of it). Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of not only sharing updates and spreading the word about aviation history but also organizing missions, campaigns, and various events for squadrons within the Spanish Il-2 community. That’s probably been the most time-consuming part—especially when it came to resolving misunderstandings between people! Now it's in hands of great people and also I have to give a big salute to Nite, Virutas and Cachash for their support. On top of that, I attempted my first campaign creation last year, which ended up being a bit of a disaster. Campaign planning takes much more time and a different kind of effort than the usual multiplayer event that I created. After a hectic period and a desire for change, I’ve decided to step down from my role on the Spanish community’s Discord and take a new approach to editing. This frees up a lot more time and reduces the stress. It’s a more relaxed, thoughtful way of working, and it feels more in line with what single-player content requires. I can’t express enough admiration for creators like Gambit21 and Jaegermeister, and I hope to follow in their footsteps. After chatting with my friend Haluter from Combat Box, I realized it was time to take the leap and do something different, driven by the same excitement that fuels this hobby (and major kudos to anyone managing a community, by the way!). I also want to take a moment to give my full respect to Haluter, Barnacles, Talon, and the rest of the admins over at Combat Box for creating incredible missions, as well as the work being done on other servers like FVP. Your dedication is inspiring! Can't name everybody! As for the campaign and "planes we play with" we often focus on numbers and performance here, but let’s not forget the heart behind it all. So, my friends, I’d love to start sharing missions and campaigns with you. I don’t have any specific goals or milestones in mind just yet, but we’ll get there in time. This time, I have it: time. I’ve got a few ideas in mind, like something with the Yak-3 in Odessa, or maybe Korea. And also, moreideas... why don't include PDFs with some more content (besides the text that comes with the mission?), why not videos or even audios. Maybe, as a LW flier on the last days, that amount of resources and how they are less and less every mission. The devil is in the details! And tons of creativity and ideas that might also make this an awesome experience. My approach to campaigns will be historical or at least based on real events. It’s got to be fun, and if I take any creative liberties, they’ll be carefully placed within real historical contexts to maintain that spark of authenticity. As I mention in the video: Imagine being a Soviet pilot handed a Yak-3 alongside others in your squadron for testing, just before the August 1944 offensives. We could develop that story, exploring how our protagonist feels the thrill and fear of relying on this new weapon, and gradually, step by step... make their way westward. On top of all that, this is going to be great for something I love—learning history. Researching, discovering new theaters of war, and digging into the stories behind them. It’s something I’ve always felt goes hand-in-hand with Il-2 and flight simulation. This might be another post from an unknown guy, but for me is a milestone done, a change that I am really eager to begin! 12 1

And you can develop the story of the campaign dynamically as you want. Being a Test Pilot who joins different combat units for some weeks could be interesting. And you can update some background informations in the "info.locale=eng.txt" while flying / creating the campaign missions. I am testing this currently and it works well. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/89450-small-idea-to-increase-the-identification-of-the-player-with-the-campaign/ 1
