[80 years ago today] "• The Swiss Doflug D.3802 has its maiden flight. Using a Hispano-Suiza YS-2 1,250 hp engine, refined wing and fuselage, and three 20mm cannon (or one cannon and four machine guns), this is the final operational variant of the venerable Morane-Saulnier MS.406 which first flew in 1935.

Twelve will see service but production will be terminated after the war when relatively inexpensive surplus P-51Ds will be available from the United States."
