Azdack Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Some campaigns require you to land your plane intact on the departure aerodrome or have a number of air/ground victories in order to be able to move on to the next mission. Now, if you have to bail out or land on another aerodrome or not bring back victories but stay alive, the mission is not necessarily a failure... I am not familiar with the mission editor tool. Is it possible to change the rules for a successful campaign? If so, which path in the mission editor should be used? Thank you for the answers.
kraut1 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 For me the main objective is always just to survive and to return in any way to my side of the front line. For this for example I make a simplification (that was done in a similar way e.g.: in the official IL2 1946 DGEN campaigns) I combine MCU Mission Begin + timer (20seconds) + Translator Mission Objective Primary task axis or allied (depending on your campaign) With this the mission is completed always after 20 seconds. It is in my responsibility not to cheat if I was shot down or taken prisoner. (I am not an expert with these functions, but this I am using for a long time) The attached group works for me, but there may be conflicts when imported in a mission that contains already other mission objective conditions. 0-imediately-axis-mission-success.zip

You can simply add a 2 minute Trigger Timer targeting a Mission Objective (Primary Task, Success, Your coalition). Right click on your player aircraft, click Selected Object Menu and add On Plane Took Off Event. Link this to the timer and you will have what I use. You actually need to take off and fly for 2 minutes, but then the mission is complete. You don't need to worry about goal conflicts because whatever Success is triggered first will stay in effect. If you add a Mission Fail Objective, that can overwrite the Success that has already been triggered, such as Add on Pilot Killed Event. Edited September 26, 2024 by Jaegermeister 2
Azdack Posted September 27, 2024 Author Posted September 27, 2024 Thank you for your explanation. I will familiarize myself and tame the mission editor so that I can introduce the changes you are proposing. Thanks again for help.
