I know that feeling. Especially when trying to taxi  and pulling endless ground loops at least the engine sound is quite satisfying :)

The thing's a work of art! Great fun to fly for me. Once I  cottoned on to pulling the stick back to lock the tailwheel, taking off and landing are pretty much the easiest out of all the planes so far, I think. Taxiing - weeeell, let's skip the taxiing!  ;)  And in my opinion, it's got great visibility. It's easy to acquire targets, the cockpit framing isn't half the problem that it is in the Gustav, and as others have said, the rear view is unsurpassed! So it's easy to keep an eye on that pesky Yak climbing up to rain on your parade!

I love it! And of all the 190s in all the sims in all the gin joints that I've tried, this is by far my favourite!

I love the 190. The looks of it, the sound, the sheer destruction it can achieve, but simply the sheer beauty of the machine. I saw Wings of the Luftwaffe back when I was in High School, and they had an individual showing off his 190 - but it was a scale 190 (I think built from a kit), the size I can't remember. "If I win the lottery!" as it goes, that and a N-17 scale kit plane will be two of the first things I do with the money I keep for myself.

That WotLW aircraft is a 70% scale Fw 190 A4. It was hand built from the original drawings and comes up for sale on Barnstormers and Trade-a-Plane every five or six years. Goes for 80k or so. Last time I saw it listed it was turn key buy needed some serious TLC and paint. It has been ground looped at least once and has serious CG issues, to the tune of 400lbs of lead in the nose. I think the pilot/builder's name was Ed Jones. Terry Kronk's Fw is 80% with an M-14P radial is for sale for 100k and seats two. It is a much more capable aircraft and also hand built. There are several video's of Mr Kronks Fw on YouTube. Sadly Mr. Kronk perished flying another custom aircraft a couple of years ago. I have seriously considered purchasing the Kronk machine but would have trouble getting it through committee in my household.

Thanks for the info HerrMurf! I didn't know it was totally custom built from the drawings, very interesting and something I'd probably not be able to accomplish. I mean, I'm sure I could build it but the resulting contraption would be questionably flyable and I wouldn't even put my worst enemy in it as I'm sure it would explode just closing the canopy.

I think pilot/builder was actually David Jones. It's late ;)

The FW is a lovely ride. :) I didn't want it in IL2 Stalingrad, when i first heard about it, but the FW is a really cool machine. I am glad we have it in IL2 BOS.  :salute: MJ
