Sky_Wolf Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 I have not flown BoX for a long time. Getting into a career as a Luftwaffe in Rhineland career. I have to say, the overall aesthetics of the career - the detail in terms of your squad mates, the randomly generated images of them, the news reports, the background information on the Gruppe - it is all so impressive. The flight modeling, ballistics, sounds, and visuals are also highly impressive. I expect the AI will eventually leave me frustrated but I just had to communicate how impressive the rest of it all is. i am really looking forward to the next generation of IL-2 and I sincerely hope that the AI gets sorted out early on! 2 1
Gambit21 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Yeah the stuff when you’re not flying is all OK - it’s the sense of a busy airfield and a war going on when you’re actually in the aircraft that needs work. Scripted campaigns are better for this. 1
da11en47 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Glad you're enjoying it, but it has been bland for a long time. It gets very repetitive and stale in no time. Not having the ability to customize missions much or the lack of random events is disappointing. There could be so many more choices, immersion, and directions to make the career mode feel like you are actually playing a part in it or care about your fellow pilots. Unfortunately, unless this company puts some real effort into improving career mode and the AI I won't keep buying new skins and maps just for the same old modes. Agreed, single player mode gets stale fast, factor in no pre-order for FC4 and little information regarding Korea single player or much improved AI, I fail to see the reason to support this franchise. I wonder since Jason is gone if they will have un-locks again to progress... Building a community and single player seems low on the priority list. Edited September 10, 2024 by 1./JG54_Lang 1

I doubt that very much, I'm pretty sure that would kill the product off very quickly, they must know that. Having said that, we have already seen the direction the SP career seems to be heading in from their video diaries which have already raised some eyebrows. I fully support the Korea idea, and if approached correctly could be fantastic, but as usual, I await the long drawn out process of finding out...
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 10, 2024 1CGS Posted September 10, 2024 Unlocks are not going to be a thing in Korea. As for everything else, lots of information has yet to be shared, so just please be patient. 2
Ken_Stallings Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Been playing the career mode for a few weeks now. I have to say the historic background information and presentation is really nice. Personally, though I have so far only flown the American side in the Rhineland campaign, it seems to me the AI opposition aircraft are flown overall well. Though I think the Bf-109 is slightly overmodeled in terms of its ability to climb. I've seen these AI 109's launch into a vertical climb from an entry speed of about 285 and zoom several thousand feet. That's more than actual Bf-109's could handle. I also think the low to mid altitude AAA (30mm) is modeled with a bit more accuracy and range than they could realistically handle. I have one question, the medals. I've shot down 25 confirmed and for the last several missions now no medals awarded past the point where I was standing at 15 victories and had gotten two Silver Stars and six Air Medals. So, if this the limit for awards, or do higher level medals get awarded and if so, at what points are they earned in the game?

I'll take a look and see if there's any issue with award criteria. DFCs are awarded for victories 5/10/15/20/25/30.
