Several months ago I bought this DVD (Pilot) really cheap at WalMart.  Full length is a good movie.

And the acceleration after it, they must have had afterburners even in piston engines. Wonder why did they ever even product any fighters? This beast would have wiped skies clean easily!

 

Btw,  Red Star Against the Swastika: The Story of a Soviet Pilot over the Eastern Front by Vasily B. Emelianenko is an excellent book, autobiography of a guy who flew IL-2 at war.
