SCG_HITMAN_413 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) Hello all, SCG has been testing its dynamic campaign for over an year now and we want to expand its scope. We are opening it to everyone now as long as you follow a few simple rules outright: - no cheating with minimal graphics - respecting your fellow players - and being able to communicate in English (for groups that want to participate but do not all speak English, you can have only one or two people who can deliver the orders to the rest of the group). Detailed instructions on how everything works will be given by me when you join. Below I will give some examples on how is the campaign going so far, so you can gain some general idea on what this is. The idea of this campaign is to put two command structures against one another so they can strategize on how to defeat their opponents. There are two stages of this campaign. Strategic map deployment and planning and the second is field and air battles. First stage involves the command structures alone. They deploy their forces on the map in form of divisions as shown below: This is and example from already progressing campaign. As you can see Allied forces have broken through in the south and are making their way behind enemy lines. And below is further development of that situation after the AXIS forces have managed to make an attempt to cut off Allied divisions by attacking the city of Gerolstein and cutting supply to the divisions in the east. The goal is to make the other side surrender. They can fight to the very end if they wish. But as the war progresses it becomes more difficult for the winner. Supply lines get stretched, losses start to mount and friendly factories are being bombed. Economy is also playing a role in this scenario. Each side begins with same number of factories and they decide what vehicles they can produce in them. So capturing enemy factories is quite beneficial to reserves. Which brings me to the second stage of the campaign. Battles. Once two or more opposing divisions meet on the map, one or the other side can decide when to attack. I create the battle and the players resolve the outcome in and event day, in a 4 to 5 hours session. After which I update the map with the outcome and we go back to the first stage until the next battle. During battles there are no rules to how an attack or defense is conducted. The defending force can decide to launch a pre-emptive attack instead of waiting for the opponent to come to them or the attackers can decide to defend if they see the situation is not going their way. In the mean time both commanding structures can call even for negotiations to end the battle via dialog instead of fighting. If both side agree, battle will be over for that day and the conditions of the negotiations will be applied on the map next day - which was the case with the last battle. The battles offer certain amount of features in order to push back or completely overrun the opposing force. Deploying FOB (forward operating bases) with up to ten vehicles inside, so you can save time and have a ready force near the enemy's objectives; deployments of refueling and repairing depos so you do not have to drive all the way back to base; deployment of static AI defenses so players do not have to be stuck for the duration of a session guarding an objective; ability to bomb and repair bridges and number other planned features. AI is present only as limited defense forces of division camps and several strategic objectives during missions, as well as AI resupply convoys and player controlled artillery support. The deployment of all those helpful features is not so easy though. The campaign is designed to be as close to real situation as possible, so command structures will have to use players who drives specially purposed AAA trucks. They will have to be driven to the specific locations for deployment of FOBs or repair of bridges for example. Air support is also critical in those events of course. While tanks are limited to certain region for the event day, pilots can roam around the entire map. Their objectives are to maintain air supremacy over the battlefield, CAS and perhaps bombing enemy factories. Depending on the available payers, either command structure can decide how to implement their plans. Either completely commit them to the one or other objective or split them and hope for the best. Air power is not only for destruction of course. It can be used to drop supplies in eventually encircled friendly divisions. Each division that is cut of from supply lines starts to blead resources and eventually will surrender or be destroyed. Each division needs a direct line of supply with the capital, meaning that a direct road or train connection is required to resupply, or combination of both. Current war is being fought between the AXIS forces, comprised of German vehicles and the Allied forces - a combination of American and British vehicles. Each side has a different doctrines. AXIS rely on quality, where Allied on quantity. As of this moment both sides require troops, AXIS forces perhaps a bit more than Allied. You are free to join either side and required to stick with your side until the end of the war. You can even join the a command structure if you so desire at some point, but you will have to be evaluated for your suitability or you can be asked at some point, if your superiors see your potential. Communication is paramount in this event, so regretfully you will not be able to join if you do not speak English or do not have a friend who wishes to participate as well, who does speak it. As mentioned above, entire groups of not speaking English people can join as long as they have one of them who does. Separate platoons will be created where they can function as another detachment. That is it in a nutshell. For more detailed explanation, join our discord and contact me or ask your question here. The link below should redirect you to the discord channel. https://discord.gg/NePAnQ4MsR Once there, you can check #scg-campaign chat and see the progress so far for the current campaign. Regular updates are being posted there after each event. You will have to follow the discord for new upcoming events if you wish to participate. Events are being held every two weeks at minimum. There is a lot happening on the front lines, so there are always battles to be fought. I wish you all good luck and I hope to see you on the battlefield. Edited August 25, 2024 by SCG_HITMAN_413 1
SCG_HITMAN_413 Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) Next event is this Saturday. Germans will once again try to retake the city of Gerostein to stop the Allied advance east. https://discord.com/events/451087098397720587/1277152783849623604 Edited August 26, 2024 by SCG_HITMAN_413
SCG_HITMAN_413 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) German forces have scored a major victory in the last push south. They have retaken some of the lost territories around Gerolstein, effectively cutting supply to the Allied divisions pushing east. Now that is done, it is time for the Allied forces to perform a counter attack and try to restore their lines. Next week the Americans will push from east and west and try to either push away the three German divisions or completely run them over. Edited September 7, 2024 by SCG_HITMAN_413
SCG_HITMAN_413 Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 Allied side have made unsuccessful attempt to push the AXIS forces back north, down around Gerolstein. For now both side are dug in and waiting there. It now time for German high command to resume their push in the north. This Saturday attack will occur against the city of Eschweiler, in attempt to capture it and the Allied factory there.
SCG_HITMAN_413 Posted October 13, 2024 Author Posted October 13, 2024 (edited) AXIS forces have managed to deliver a serious blow to the Allied forces around Eschweiler. 1st and 2nd battalion of the 14th Tank division were destroyed and the airfield west of Eschweiler was also captured, containing about a third of the current Allied plane reserve. 74 planes were lost in there. In the south 34th and 16th tank divisions were pushed away from their positions. The only force that managed to keep its position was 3rd battalion of 14th Tank division. They are now the sole defenders of the city of Eschweiler. Despite all that, the Allied forces have also managed to deal some heavy loses to the AXIS forces. That victory came at the cost of around 35 heavy tanks - Panthers and Tigers, and number of medium Pz IVs lost defending the division camps. VIKING Panzer Division was overrun but later the position was recaptured by the German forces. So despite the immediate danger looming over the city of Eschweiler, the german positions are now significantly weakened, exposing them to Allied counter attack. The remaining german forces are resupplying and preparing for a final push on Eschweiler and complete destruction of the Allied forces around the city. Edited October 13, 2024 by SCG_HITMAN_413
