1CGS LukeFF Posted July 19, 2024 1CGS Posted July 19, 2024 Dev Blog #4 is now up for your reading: https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_4 12 3
354thFG_Leifr Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 This is nice, really nice. I am looking forward to Korea more and more with each DD, especially when they're loaded like this! I can't wait now for the first videos to start appearing. 🤑 2 3
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) Good stuff! BTW when the sea water is taking so much place on the maps, in previous series water surface was to uniform, I hope that will change and we will see those uneven surfaces forming on the water. Trooper117 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) our future plans include combat operations over the oceans. That is pretty good info... but for what? For use in the Korea module or the proposed venture into the Pacific, Vietnam... or what? As usual, any information they dish out always leaves you in suspense... However... this looks great! Jade_Monkey Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Really nice upgrades, the old engine definitely needed some better shaders to make the landscape look more natural. Happy to see all these improvements. Does the upgrade to PBR and DX12 have any impact on clouds? or will they remain relatively the same (they are already nice) 11 minutes ago, Trooper117 said: our future plans include combat operations over the oceans. FuriousMeow Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I really have little to no interest in Korea, but these developments have me intrigued and perhaps even a little excited for it.

It would be nice to know that's all... 2
=621=Samikatz Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Is it possible we could get higher res uploads of the images in the dev diary somewhere? There's some rather crunchy jpg compression that makes it harder to properly appreciate details
LuftManu Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Really cool to see the 3D craters! That will look and come handy! Also that image from a field looks awesome! Looking better by each week. Its great to see all the new things little by little

MAJORgoonMADLOU Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I cant wait! Been waiting for eons for that "other" sim which has had f86 and Mig 15b modules for years do some real Korean stuff with them. But Nooooooo! Great Battless to the rescue!

I'm blown away by this development update, but it does leave me with one big question: Trenchlines. If they can do craters - can they do trenches? Trench warfare was significant in Korea... so if the terrain system can be improved in that area it would be a huge boon (for WWII and WWI as well eventually). 1 2
GOA_Karaya_VR Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I'm really excited about this project and the develop, but for been honest, and is just my opinion , i see the same Mustang of BOS, and the foliage had nothing new compared to Great Battles. But as i say , im very excited and follow the advances of this project very optimistic. S.

The internal and external model of the Mustang is being entirely redone and will look noticeably better than what we have now, of that I can assure you. As for the terrain, I can only suggest you look closer. 🙂 1 1
FuriousMeow Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 There's only so many ways a P51 can be made to look like a P51... but I see quite a bit of differences. The skin not being smooth around the rivets and panel joints, the light reflection off the intake is much more natural and not just a big blob, the reflection of the exhaust flames, and other details like the prop spinner, the .50s, etc. 4 2
Juri_JS Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Are the field textures just placeholders? There aren't really appropriate for the Korean field systems. 1

Korea has both dry-field and rice-field/paddy agriculture - so it will be important to have both. I've been assuming that they are different enough that devs won't be able to miss them. Korea also has very different biomes - and it would be good if they could do something similar to what they did with the Moscow map (from Sangheon Yi, 2011): I'm hoping for the following tile-sets as a minimum: city town dry-field rice-field pastoral/grazing shrub/scrubland deciduous broadleaf forest conifer alpine 2

For me, also I think I'm not alone in this, having correct flora in the map is very important for immersion and environment accuracy. Attention to details is what differencing average game from really good one. 1

We've been assured several times now that the landscape tiles are purely prototype/placeholder, and I should hope so because it looks suspiciously like Rheinland - and even that was a pretty poor representation of Western Europe IMO. I hope they'll come good on their promise, in the mean time maybe there are some resources you could pass on to LukeFF that might be useful regarding flora of the Korea? 1
-DED-Takeshi Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 in the IL-2, bombs got stuck in the crowns of trees, how about this in the new project?

CzechTexan Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 15. 3D visualization of railroad tracks and crossings. It seems that airplanes fly high and trains are somewhere below. But for some reason, everyone has always wanted high-quality visualization of railroad tracks and crossings. Probably because everybody loves trains 🙂 Beebop would have loved this. He was a Train guy! 3 2

As far as I know attacks against railway lines were an important mission type in Korea. 1
Sandmarken Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 This new game actually looks great! 😁 when will the beta drop? (Two weeks/years😅) 1

Lemmi Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Nice pic of the czech steam engine 475.1 built by Škoda in Plzeň. I didn't know, that the CSSR sent 24 engines of this type to North Korea.

He's been pulling loads for both sides across two world wars now. 😄 4

In the sim with the so called "cookie" of the DB (Deutsche Bundesbahn) used since 1955 - that's obviously wrong. But not a big deal 😀

actionhank1786 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 This is all looking great. With the potential for carrier ops and then flying in rough weather in those hills, I'm going to crater so many planes. A lot of countries are about to see their defense budgets get wrecked.
