GenMarkof007 Posted August 22, 2024 Author Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) The short storyline of Chapter 2! ---- The Isle of Wight fictional battles Chapter 2 - The Battle of Freshwater, Isle of Wight (WWII) Setting: Period: Summer 1942, with the British mostly in North Africa and Germans looking to cross the Channel. Location: Freshwater, a town on the western tip of the Isle of Wight, characterized by its rugged coastline, open fields, and proximity to the strategic port of Yarmouth. Overview: In this fictional scenario, the town of Freshwater becomes a critical battleground as Allied forces aim to capture it to secure the Western approaches to the Isle of Wight. Controlling Freshwater allows the Allies to safeguard supply routes across the Solent and prepare for larger operations against occupied France. Allied Forces: 4th Canadian Armoured Division: Commander: Major General Harry Foster. Objective: Advance from Yarmouth to Freshwater, securing the area to prevent German forces from threatening the rear of the main Allied forces. Tactics: Use fast-moving armoured units to quickly overwhelm German defences, supported by infantry to clear any remaining resistance. ---- 51st British Armoured Division: Commander: Major General George Symes. Objective: Flank the German forces from the North and cut off their retreat towards the central part of the island. Tactics: Execute rapid flanking maneuvers using Sherman and T34 tanks (T34 were sent to help since most of the main tank forces are in North Africa), supported by mobile artillery and infantry assaults. Axis Forces: 21st Panzer Division: Commander: Generalmajor Edgar Feuchtinger. Objective: Defend Freshwater and delay Allied advances, preventing them from securing a foothold in the western part of the Isle of Wight. Tactics: Utilize defensive positions around Freshwater, using the town's natural features and Panzers (PzIV and PzIII) tanks for ambushes and delaying tactics. ---- For this mission, planes will be limited in numbers: 2 x Mosquito F.B. Mk.VI, 4 x Bf 110 G-2 heavy fighter (no fighters) *TBC ---- AAS PvP Event -- Operation Freshwater - The Isle of Wight Fictional Battles Sunday - September 22/09/2024 - 19h UTC+2 Edited August 26, 2024 by GenMarkof007

GenMarkof007 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 (edited) Intel Update: Part 1 - Q&A for this weekend Event - AAS PvP Event -- Operation Freshwater - The Isle of Wight Fictional Battles 22/09/2024 - 19h UTC+2 ---- Q1: At what time should I get on AAS Chat Discord? A: Each team (players) should be online on the AAS Team Chat Discord at least 15 min before the start of the event so that you can organize and talk strategy. Q2: What do I need to do when I spawn inside the mission? A: When you enter the mission, please zoom the map area of Battle for Tankers, so that you can see the Tank spawns and select the one you want to spawn in. Be careful, if you spawn on the wrong side, a penalty of 60 minutes will be needed to spawn back on your side!!! Q3: When can I start to move when I get on the server? A: Each team from any base or Airfield need to wait 10 minutes (waiting time) before starting the mission. A message and sound will inform the start of the mission at each base. After spawning, you can move so that other players can spawn, but you need to stay in the base area. Q4: How do I repair, refuel or rearm (RRR)? A: For tankers, you need to find the red smoke (Axis) or blue smoke (Allied) at each tank spawn and stop your engine near that area. For Airfield, find the Yellow smoke, and stop your engine near that area. Q5: Why do I need to stay in the Black Circle Area? A: Since the main task for Allied is to take the flag and for Axis to defend it, this will give you enough space for the main battles. Be careful, even in the black area, you may have AI AT guns in each zone near enemy spawns. If you stay inside the main houses in town, you won't be shot by AT guns, just enemy tanks! ---- Intel Update: Part 2 - Q&A for this weekend Event - AAS PvP TC Event -- Operation Freshwater - The Isle of Wight Fictional Battles 22/09/2024 - 19h UTC+2 ---- Q6: Why is the flag not moving when I am beside it? A: If the flag is not moving, a good chance an enemy tank is near the radius of the flag. You need to eliminate it before the flag can move. Q7: Why do I need to download the skin packs on HSD? A: These skin packs (AAS) and (SCG) are made to have a more immersive time when tanking in multiplayer missions or PvP events. Also, most tank skins are made by the IL-2 Tank Crew community. The planes are always using Default skins. Q8: Why am I always getting disconnected from the server? A: If your PING (Internet connection) is too high, you might get disconnected. We are trying our best to have a tick delay lower than 7, this helps the CPU on the server! Q9: Why are so many convoys (Trucks, Navy fleets,...) static in this mission? A: Since this is a PvP human tankers and pilots event, we are trying to have a low tick delay for better play for all the players. Q10: Why are we using this tank set? A: For each (chapter/battle), we are trying to find the tanks that will fit the best with the scenario. As you know, the numbers and types of tanks are very limited for the Western Front. ---- For the next battle, we will have 2 players on each side that will help with the tanks and planes selection. TBC Q11: Why fictional battles and the Isle of Wight? A: After playing on many MP TC servers, it seems that no one was doing missions on the British side of the Normandy map. And knowing that no tank battles ever happen on the Isle of Wight, I decided to call this campaign "Fictional Battles". ---- Intel Update: Part 3 - Q&A for this weekend Event - AAS PvP TC Event -- Operation Freshwater - The Isle of Wight Fictional Battles 22/09/2024 - 19h UTC+2 ---- Q12: When I spawn, where do I go for the Battle (after the mission start signal)? A: When you spawn, you will see base signs, just follow the arrows. If you see signs (do not pass), that means this is not the way to the Battle. same for runways on Airfields. Q13: If I'm not able to play the complete 3 hours? A: No worries, just let it know to your commander. That way, he might do another strategy when you leave. Q14: Can we give some comments after the event? A: Absolutely, we will do a fresh debrief after the event, all are welcome to join us. Just try not to be too hard when saying things bad or good, this will help a lot! thx Q15: Can we do photos or videos after the event and where can I post them? A: Like the last event, post all the photos or videos that you want in the IL-2 Forum / Tank Crew post of Operation Freshwater. A prize will be drawn from all the posts that we get after the event (a time limit will be given). ---- Question received today (Saturday): Can I fly and do tanking at the same time? A: No, all pilots are only able to fly at the start. If at any moment, they don't have any more planes, they will be able to transfer as a tank crew or take a tank. Please inform your commander of this, thx! Can I fly if I start tanker? A: You can switch to pilot only if all regular pilots leave the game and you still have planes on your side. Again, please inform your commander, he might have a specific task for you. ---- Hope this can answer questions for any new players coming Sunday! Cheers, GenMarkof Edited September 21, 2024 by GenMarkof007
GenMarkof007 Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 (edited) Official AAS Event Rules ---- Mission Duration: 3 hours + 10-minute delay at the start before the mission begins! Mission Goal: Allies need to take the Flag in the town of Freshwater. Axis need to defend it until the end of the mission. ---- No spawn camping (each team must stay inside the Black Circle (on the map) in the area of the town of Freshwater!) No switching teams during the mission!!! A delay of 1 hour before respawning if you click the wrong side!!! Planes and Tank loadouts: no restrictions RRR: Tanks and planes can repair, rearm and refuel at the spawns NEW: the flag needs to be taken full (until the top of the pole) and an extra 5 min was added before the team can win the mission. ---- Pilots! - be aware that heavy flaks are placed near the spawns (Tanks & Airfields) and the town of Lymington. Be careful over Freshwater. Skins for this event: all skins that are showing (HSD), means that you need to download them from the Haluter Skin Downloader. And lastly, Good Luck & Have Fun! ---- If you have other questions, try to ask them to your commander tomorrow. For now, super-truite will be the commander on the Allied side and SCG_JudgeDeath is the commander on the German side. Again, try to be at least 15-20 minutes in the AAS Discord chat before the event starts. thx! Edited September 21, 2024 by GenMarkof007
GenMarkof007 Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) ---- Hi All, I want to start by saying that I am very sorry for what happened today on **the AAS PvP TC server.** After discussion with Super-truite, we think that the sector of the map (**the town area of Freshwater**) might have made our **slow-motion effect**. Since the server had no stress on the CPU and we had a tick delay of 4. ---- So after discussion, we will try another sector of the map for the next event and we will strip everything that is not related to the main battle sector (with no planes). Also, we will make another Tank Crew mission on the *French side of the Normandy map*. This will be our **backup mission **if, for any reason, we do have again the slow-motion effect or other problems. ---- I hope that the problem of today will not be a show stopper for any of the tankers that came today... and since this mission was not finished. I will prepare another one that should be ready in 3-4 weeks. ---- Thanks to all who came today! Cheers, GenMarkof Edited September 22, 2024 by GenMarkof007
GenMarkof007 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Hi, all tankers and pilots... Some photos of our last event The Battle of Freshwater, Isle of Wight (WWII)... even if we had to cut it short due to technical problems. ----- The black circle is the zone of Battle around the Freshwater area! Some photos from the German main tank base just on the Coast of Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight. Cheers, GenMarkof Edited September 25, 2024 by GenMarkof007 1

GenMarkof007 Posted September 27, 2024 Author Posted September 27, 2024 S! @VinntoreZ Next event - Chapter 3 of the fictional battles is almost ready. I'm preparing a meeting with the (2) two commanders soon to discuss the next tank set. If everything goes well, we will announce the next event and the tank set very soon. That should answer your question above. P.S.: We do know that the latest ships arriving from France for the German invasion fleet, had some new tanks transferring at Ventnor Port. To follow!
