tednturanski Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 How do I place a line on a mission map? I have written my own missions using waypoints and can follow my course using the teardops. However, I would like to know if I can place a line on a mission map so that I can follow the line on the mission map when flying a mission from one airport to another instead of following the teardrops. Any help will be appreciated. Ted
Nacht Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 (edited) With Translator Icon. You can also define the color and type of the line, description (start, wp1, attack...) and other options. You have to set it as enabled and when using multiple icons set target to the next one. Edited August 17, 2024 by Nacht
tednturanski Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 Thank you Nacht for the information. I will study the Translator Icon in the manual and give it a shot with a simple program. I will report back on my progress.
tednturanski Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 Still need some help. Here's what I did. What have I missed? Started with a new mission. Lapino summer. Downloaded the import files. Saved mission. Placed a Bf109 F4 on the runway at Yantar and made it a linked entity. In the Plane Advanced I changed AI to player and chose "on runway". Intent was to fly to Lapino. My problem came in with placing the line. I placed a Translator Icon near Yantar and another one near Lapino. I created a target link from the Yantar translator icon to the Lapino translator icon. Everything looked good in the viewport. It had the translator icon symbols on the map there, and even the red line with arrow between them. Saved Mission again. When I tested the program in Stalingrad, my program was listed among the missions. I selected it and all looked good. I could take off from Yantar, but there was no line to follow to Lapino. What have I missed? Should I have also object linked the translator icon to my plane? I did try setting a target link also from the Lapino translator icon to the translator icon near Lapino but that did not help. The translator icon box already had a check mark in the little box marked "enabled". I have created several missions using waypoints, and have been successful following the teardrops. My problem seems to be setting a line to follow on the flight map. What else can I try? Any additional help will be appreciated. Ted
Nacht Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 (edited) Hello, surely the answer is in some detail as posibly the type line. Here I give an example that works for me. So is as shown on the ingame-map. Additionally if you want to mark some target on the map you can also use some icon, I in this case use them without "target". Hope it helps. 🙂 Edited August 21, 2024 by Nacht Type
tednturanski Posted August 22, 2024 Author Posted August 22, 2024 OK Nacht, thanks for coming back again to help me on this. It may take me some time to experiment and get this all figured out, but when I do I'll let you know on this thread. I appreciate the time that you took to respond to my problem. The information and pictures that you included will be most helpful. It was so very kind of you! Ted
tednturanski Posted September 2, 2024 Author Posted September 2, 2024 OK Nacht. I got the line to work last night. My problem was that in setting up my Bf-109 I had just left it as NEUTRAL instead of declaring it as German or other. Going into the advanced window for icon translators, NEUTRAL was labeled FALSE while all other coalitions were marked TRUE. I double-clicked the neutral-false line to change it to TRUE. Then running my test mission in Stalingrad I had my line to follow. Thanks again for all your help! Without your assistance I wouldn't have known where to start. Ted
