ACG_Wobbel Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 How dos the bank indicator work on the F4 to ensure you are horisontale or level in clouds etc. Or night ? See that the G series have the normal horisontal indicator to show if the plane are straight or level .
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 12, 2024 1CGS Posted August 12, 2024 If doesn't have an artificial horizon, so you will need to rely on something like the altimeter to see if you are climbing or descending. 1
ACG_Wobbel Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Ok thx for replay. Så the 109F4 do not have artificial horizon indicator ?
ATAG_Headshot Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 It's more of a "point your nose and hope" kind of situation 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Turn rate indicator is also pretty useful in conjunction with compass and altimeter. If its equipped with a good one I have high confidence entering clouds and can basically climb and descend staying fairly on a course. Without one it's a crap shoot, better be a thin cloud. 1
Haaank Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Irl, passing through cloud layers without a variometer or artificial horizon is dangerous and generallly avoided. However if you really want to do it in the f4, you can make it a lot safer by trimming the aircraft properly beforehand so no pitch input is required to stay in a steady climb. Then just reference your bank indicator while passing through a cloud layer. Edited August 14, 2024 by Hank42 1
