Will we be getting a career b mode like in ROF?

One of my favorite parts of ROF is the career b mode where you pick a squadron based on what you want to fly for your career and you fly missions out of your airbase. I was wondering if there was going to be something like that in this game.

Nope. As I remember right, there was a Devlog, describing the Carreer mode and it will go like you can choose every airfield and every type of plane during the campaign and change it during the campaign.

You can read about BoS career here:

Story oriented Campaign mode vs. Squadron oriented Career mode (like RoF.)

I don't see why both modes couldn't coexist in the future.

Career mode in Rof was the best in that game...i would be little disappointed if it dont come back in BOS

I agree. It gave me an opportunity to play my own role in the air war. Career is a better platform for squad based "role-playing" instead of it being forced through a campaign.

So campaign mode will be like this more or less:

Choose phase, availability depends on progress you have made;

Choose side, VVS or Luftwaffe;

Choose regiment, you can fly planes available for this regiment, type of missions and airfields are realistic for regiment during that period;

Choose mission full route or go to battle now, mission will have realistic weather for that period.

One of my all time fav games was Aces over Europe, esp the campaign component ie. you chose a squadron and (unless you were transferred), you flew whatever they flew. If you lasted long enough, you would upgrade your a/c (sqdn ldrs got their own a/c which they could paint). Every now and then the squadron (as IRL) would be transferred to new types of a/c eg. spits to Hawker Typhoons then Tempests, etc or you'd stay and graduate from the Spit II to V to IX, etc. I'd love for something like that to be here.

When its you choosing your squadron, your a/c, your airfield, etc etc...whats the point of that? Its almost like you're just flying a collection of single player missions (which you are but atleast in campaign mode there's supposed to be some sort of mission generator which takes into a/c previous losses, etc).

just to add to the above, I had to remind myself that this is IL2: BOS, not IL2: Battle on the Eastern Front that covered 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945. However, just as an 'out there', what would be an awesome SP campaign experience would be:

1. enlist as either VVS or Luftwaffe

2. defined time periods (1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 for example)

3. request either bombers or fighters (you DON'T get the choice in full real...you do in say medium difficulty)

4. be posted to a squadron (bombers eg. IL2 or PE2 or JU87 or He111; fighters could be anything - LAGG, Mig 3, BF109, FW190, etc)

5. your squadron moves around following the RL squadron and upgraded to new a/c historically

6. you can request a transfer to another squadron (or type of a/c) but not guaranteed (full real) or automatic (say medium difficulty).

7. the standard campaign stuff is recorded (flights, kills, damage, assist, promotion, medals, commendations, etc)

Anyway, I know this is only BOS but I thought what the hell....dreams are free! (or $99.95!!).
