Saint-Exupéry’s F-5B on return from a previous mission. - The famous novelist and poet (author of “The Little Prince” and “Flight to Arras”) had flown Bloch MB-174 and Potez-637 reconnaissance aircraft in 1939-40, and then traveled to the United States after the fall of France to advocate for American intervention. He joined the Free French after Pearl Harbor. The wreckage and a bracelet of Saint-Exupéry will be recovered in 1998 but the reason for the crash cannot be determined." 1
