86Cheese Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 I recently started a new career for the first time in a long time that I'm actually sticking with. I've set some pretty lofty goals for myself that I'll hold back on sharing for the moment. Considering how difficult a career is, it got me wondering how others have done. I used to just fly Iron man and try a different plane/squadron when I died but I'm bad and never got anywhere. So this time I decided to say screw it and just try to make it through a whole career with a single pilot. So I'm curious how many of you have completed a full career phase, i.e. Moscow, Stalingrad etc. And how did you do? Did you top the aces list in the papers? Did you put Karaya to shame? 1
Rodwonder Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Pilot Gunther Kampfer 218 victories so far... Started Moscow and now I'm near the end of the Kuban campaign. Played a P-51 D-Day Campaign and had 25 victories but bailed and was captured after 38 missions. Also a WW1 Camp with 56 Squadron and I have 37 victories so far with 40 missions. Good hunting! 1 1
Varibraun Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 @86Cheese - You might find this old thread fun to review seeing how far along everyone was able to go in Iron Man mode in PWCG and Career: 1
86Cheese Posted August 1, 2024 Author Posted August 1, 2024 Interesting... It may be time for an updated version with all the new career settings. Career has seriously improved so much in just the last year or so, I'm honestly blown away by it. The team has done a truly incredible job. The AAA, Ground Unit, and Enemy Superiority settings have really changed the game for career mode. I must say, flying on Moscow as a German pilot with all settings turned all the way up and enemy superiority has been a pretty wild experience. Spawning on the runway for an airfield defense mission and seeing 4 squadrons of soviet planes crossing the river right behind you... My squad is regularly outnumbered 2 or 3-1, I'm only in November and I'm at 55 kills already. So many I-16s to shoot at.. 2
Ram399 Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 (edited) Running dense activity on the realistic speed settings almost always leads to some rather ahistorical results in my experience. Pic related is a II./JG52 career started in Moscow and taken around halfway through Kuban, at this point I basically stopped counting. Spoiler Edited August 2, 2024 by Ram399
Rudini Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 the best thing one can do: get your squadron through the career with few casualties and lots of success for the whole (ai)team. lots of kills for oneself is not a challenge. keep the team on winning is much more fun (as a human player you will get all the kills and medals sooner or earlier anyway) 1
