So normally these days I fly with my fellow BlitzPigs on DF missions of my own making, and typically we fly together (usually only three of us any more) against AI, though sometimes we take opposite sides and spar with each other.

Last night no one was around so I tried a couple single player stock career missions,  Kuban, 6th. GIAP out of Gelendzhik 1.

Both missions were ground attack, which I like, flying the Yak 7B, which I also like, armed with two FAB 100s.  First mission was a truck convoy attack, and the second was to destroy a pontoon bridge to the north.  Both missions played out exactly the same.  I was no.4 in a flight of eight, escorted by three Yak 1Bs.   Take off, fly slowly to target in formation.  Fly past target which is clearly visible at the altitude we were at.  Flight bimbles about about well to the north east of the target doing nothing,  so I peel off, go accomplish the mission, get the mission accomplished prompt and fly back to base and land.

How can you guys do this? Regularly flying these missions without falling asleep?  Honestly, my flight didn't do anything but fly in a circle and scream on the radio.  So disappointing.

Specially done for you! I have never seen that behavior with the AI.

Sometimes the AI is very picky about dropping bombs because of the wind strength / direction. If you still have the mission file I'd be glad to pass it along to our mission designers.

I've noticed sometimes the missions don't seem to work properly if you've been running the same career for a long time. I recently started a Moscow career for the first time in a long time and have genuinely been impressed with the improvements. If this save is like years old I would maybe start a new one.

No, I just started it.  I'm normally not a single player user, but wanted something to do so I thought I'd try it.

I also fly with a laid back group now and then against ai in coop. Missions generated buy Patrick Wilson   Generator

Coop is excellent and the only thing I did until I uninstalled the game.
But when my enthusiasm was better I flew career. This was before gunners was tweaked down to useless. I like big fat heavy things, and prewar early war planes with a hint of P 40 / P 39 / Hurricane

Anyway for bombers only a few careers I liked and I think it was JU 88 over Stalingrad and / or Moscow. For fighters you really had more choices. Bottom line is not all careers are utter rubbish. If you find one abandon it and try again. AI is a pain in the neck. Fighter ai is a handful if bounced upon but get easier to deal with if you survive the first pass
