Launching in VR, but only see two side-by-side images

I've just bought a Quest 3 as my first foray into VR.  I have the Steam VR app running, and also have the Meta Quest link software running.  After I go to virtual desktop and launch IL2 from there, I end up in the virtual hangar where I see two side-by-side images instead of the VR experience.  By chance does anyone know what I need to change?

I bought IL2 direct from 1CGS, it is not part of my Steam library.

I've done a search for this on the forum, but didn't find it, so apologies if I am replicating an existing thread

Did you run it from the launcher, where you enabled the VR option in the settings?

See if this helps.

Just noticed you aren't using Virtual Desktop software, you were referring to the Meta desktop. I don't use a cable, so can't help you there.

If you ever decide to lose the cable and Meta software, just follow above directions using Virtual Desktop.

Good luck

Yes I did run it from the launcher, with "Enable VR" box checked in settings.  The "fullscreen mode" box is unchecked.

Thanks for this response.  I'll hopefully get the chance to try the instructions over the weekend.  I thought I was using Virtual Desktop as when I am in the headset I selected "launch Quest airlink" which then takes me to (I thought) a Virtual Desktop

Where do you download the virtual desktop you are referring to?

As a side (and important) issue, I downloaded and renamed the openvr_api.dll file you referred to, and changed it for the original file in the IL2 bin folder as directed.  I thend then ran the launcher from the Quest air link virtual desktop and IL2 now appears to work properly in VR so thankyou very much.

The only thing I haven't done from your instructions is select the VDXR runtime as it don't have the virtual desktop you have.

Sounds like you're working, so all good.

You won't get the VDXR runtime using the Meta software and link, it's part of the Virtual Desktop application. If you do want to look into Virtual Desktop it's purchased in the Meta store. It's for a wireless connection to your headset, but their are necessary requirements, like what router you have. You can learn a lot more in their Discord which is very active. Here's an invite to their Discord server if you're interested. The invite expires in 7 days. https://discord.gg/GYpsex93
