The 190 is not a late war hot rod the dora is yes but not the A series of FW190

True, but the A3, A4 and A5 damn sure are mid war hot rods!

Not in the least,  I fly the 190 and 109 when necessary, they are easy airplanes to get kills in, I understand their popularity among the online JGs.

That said, for me, it's about history, having the correct plane sets for the time and place simulated.  Now if a later or geographically different scenario is presented then I'm all for the inclusion of the 190, the La5fn, and any other later war hot rod you care to name.

Indeed. I don't think it'd be a huge stretch for Battle of Stalingrad to feature a Battle of Kursk addon (kind of like how they did the Channel Map for Rise of Flight) and include a few extra aircraft there. The types of aircraft used at Kursk were very similar with a few minor variant differences and a couple of significant types of to add to the mix. Overall it'd not be a huge stretch once the main product is established. There you could have a number of FW190A/F/G versions.

Wow, very cool Jason.

I'm hoping something rare like that shows up at Thunder Over Michigan this year.

Really would like to see the IL2 that's now flying in the USA.

oh i loved the bar it was like use the force luke, a zen arrow shot with a fold in the eyes

next is make your foe go where you want

when i was 18 i returned really drunk home and i was cutting ham with a long knive

as it was septemebr a fly approached, i threw a random slash and cut the flying fly in two, in my only try ever :)

im convinced i influenced the fly to fly to the blade i didnt even have to aim

in fact you can shoot a plane while landed you just make him croos your crosshair, i almost got two :), still got to practice that

I hope you wiped the knife before going back to cutting the ham?

Got to get me one of those. How much do they cost, I wonder?

:o I couldn't be more jealous I seriously cannot wait to fly this bird!

I am building a scale replica cockpit using some official blueprints, that's how much I love the Fw-190

I really hope BoS allows me to use a lot of those buttons I am building  ^_^

Well, the FW190 is undoubtedly one of the most favorite WW2 planes (especially on the eastern front) and with BOS probably sharing a similar system (even if it won't be exactly "pay per plane") as in ROF, i don't think it's highly unlikely, that it will show up sooner than later. Even though i would prefer it, if it would stay out aslong as Stalingrad is the only map that's avaliable in this flightsim. The devs have specifically chosen to represent this battle, so making compromises and putting a plane that didn't show up in that battle into the original release of BOS would leave a sour taste for me. So i'm hoping the devs will stick to that and wait with the FW190 for other (Kursk?) expansions.

And sorry for off-topic, but what he's saying about the Swastika in that video is 100% untrue btw. Museums in Germany regularly show the swastika on WW2 planes, nothing illegal with that whatsoever. The reason why some replicas built and/or flown in Germany don't show the swastika is a personal decision of the builder(s) and nothing else. Kind of sad that this rumour gets spread around all the time.

The magic word you used is "replicas" the law does not apllioes for "original" aircraft regardless of restorated or nor neither does it applies to original images and original Unforms of the area.

But anything else like toys, scale models etc. the law is the law. Get over it.

Actually that's not correct. The swastika is a forbidden symbol in Germany - period. There are exceptions to that rule - for art, documentation and education. Museums fall into those exemptions and can display the swastika as part of their educational and documentational duties. Private pilots operating warbirds on german territory do not fall into any of the exemptions I mentioned and therefor they cannot display the swastika. For example when the P-51 "Big Beautiful Doll" took part in an airshow here in Germany a few years back the kill markings had to be modified so that the swastikas weren't visible.

What happens outside Germany is, of course, another matter.

Just ignore what the guy said in the video. It's not important and wasn't said by me. Just look at the cool plane.

A nice video of the Fw-190 being filmed from the Planes of Fame B-25.

Planes of Fame's F4U-1A Corsair, and P-38J are in the video too. :)

High Definition: (720)

DIstinction;

  • Since restoration, the Corsair has taken part in numerous airshows and flown in a variety of Hollywood productions including the Baa Baa Blacksheep television series, Airwolf, Space, an IMAX film and an ABC Wide world of flying video.
  • Planes of Fame's F4U-1A is currently the oldest airworthy Corsair in the world.
  • Experienced combat service during WWII.

This is the IL2 community in a nutshell... You post a cool video with great sound, and you get more posts regarding some minor error in a comment by someone in the background than the actual positive subject ;) And it could continue for a number of pages.

Is that the Fw 190 with a real BMW by the way? It sounds awesome with that flyby in the car :)

(Prepares for discussions about the cockpit bar...)

Ahhh! Top five annoying issue in Il2. :-)

Woooohaa thanks guys for these great vids! :)

Can't wait to fly this baby myself in the upcomming game/addons.

If it's the replica 190A8/N then the engine in fact is the Russian A?

Did anyone here read "I Flew for the Fuher" by Heinz Knocke.. A great read by a 190 pilot.

It's indeed at Chino. I hung out with Wheels as he is a volunteer there and his buddy got us access to the ramp to watch it taxi around an fly. Was great to see fly and see it in the air. Was a beautiful day.

It's an A8 replica "kit" (one of 7 made I heard) that is essentially the same airframe as the original and is supposedly an exact copy (at least this is what I am told). The engine is an American P&W R2800.

The only other FW-190 in America with a real BMW is the one owned by Paul Allen in Washington state or so I am told. I'm not an expert on all the flying warbirds out there.

Oh and I was also told that this 190 is not rated for aerobatics. Something about the supports for the weapons also add support to the wings for high-g maneuvers. This one does not have that structure.

Same here.  So where do we get the copy with the 190?

It is not the same airframe, Jason.  An acquaintence, Dave Goss, made the same mistake and it cost him more than 20,000 USD.  Almost nothing Flugwerk makes will fit on an original FW-190A series airframe.

Ah Chino!

Just a short drive from Redlands!

But even shorter from NORCO! ;)

I lived in NORCO for 30 years.. Use to ride my bicycle out to Chino when I was a kid and watch the planes take off.. As a kid growing up we use to get all sorts of WWII planes flying over the house.. It was no bid deal to be out mowing the lawn on a Saturday morning and see a P38 fly by.. As a kid I thought it was like that all over the USA.. It was not until I got older that I realized just how lucky I was!

Well doesn't surprise me. That's why I said "supposedly" and I'm no expert. Still fun to watch.

I have seen a report on the flugwerks aicraft which didn't give the original airframe manufactures much credit (aerostar or a company like that) it's seems as if the rivets of some of the key areas are below the "desirable" specs...

I will find the report....

Very scary stuff.

I hope it was just a one off quality issue, regardless I am thankfull that flugwerks allowed more to see the sight of the fw even if underneath the skin they are a bit different.

Aren't most of the flugwerks FW-190 (not Fw-190) in a hanger in New Zealand?

I stood right behind a Fw-190 at Omaka (NZ) when it started up. There was only a small wire fence between it and the crowd.

It was bloody fantastic.   B)

Hopefully, sometime after its introduction, there will be an option to remove the outer wing guns.

They are beautiful airplanes.  They are also much cheaper than an original.
