CB77Don246 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I have just purchased FC3 I have RFC1 AND FC2 but I do not see any difference in map size with FC3 over what I had with FC1 and FC2.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 22, 2024 1CGS Posted July 22, 2024 Everyone has the same map regardless of which volumes they own.
CB77Don246 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the reply so if one has VOL 1 or VOL2 then they have the same maps, so I got it wrong I thought VOL3 had a map extension so it was just the extra planes in VOL3 I did get it in the sale so not so I dont feel so bad. Aapje Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 They improved the map for volume II and then finalized the map for volume III, but all volumes got those improvements.
JG4_Moltke1871 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 So far I know the work still continues for the map and right now it’s not the final status, right? 1
ST_Catchov Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) There's a nice little industrial complex in the new map. Sadly, it is not damage modelled. We just wanna bomb the ---- outta stuff right? So why bother with a lovely model if you can't? I therefore presume, as @JG4_Moltke1871 alludes to, the map is not finished. But who knows? I am very disappointed that so little information about FC4 and/or map improvements has been released. Okay, there's that new thing sure, but that shouldn't stop the Devs from releasing news about upcoming projects, should it? Be warned Luke, I'm about to walk off in a huff. I mean it! JG4_Moltke1871 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 What I talking about is that I heard about that the map will be improved constantly and especially the rear areas will get some love. The map includes even German territory and I really hope once I will get some targets for long distance raids. Maybe there were some strategic bomber airfields in the far rear? However, I really hope for some opportunities make use of the full fuel capacity of a Gotha, HP, Breguet, DH.4, Halberstadt CL.II etc….

What section of the map is that in? I.e. what is the grid square?
Trooper117 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Look, can't anyone have a laugh and a joke in here anymore... yet another one of my posts removed for what???? Responding to Catchov's post above ''Be warned Luke, I'm about to walk off in a huff. I mean it!'' I posted a video jokingly winding him up, which he laughed at by the way, and then the post disappears... this is getting out of hand! 1

That brings me to think about the historical accuracy of the map 🤔 Between the war 1870/71 and end of the Great War in 1918 some parts of the map were part of the German Empire’s „Reichsland Elsass-Lothringen“. For example Thionville had in that period official its German name Diedenhofen, in fact still a Center of steel production. Towns and villages that were on the German side of the border at the time and would give their German names (or maybe French/German names) would show one of the reasons of the war and represent the frech/german dualism of that time, wich has fortunately now been overcome. Given the claim to historical accuracy that IL2 places great value on, it would be a remarkable detail. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alsace–Lorraine 1 1
