deathmisser Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 So since the news of Korea came out I've now been looking for a new powerful PC since my current one is coming up to 8 years. So it's will be behind by a ton, so would this new PC not only meet the minimum requirements but be able to play at the high setting ?
Aapje Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 We don't know the game requirements for IL-2 Korea, so we can't tell you. But I'm sure that if you get a solid PC today, you'll have no problem getting great visuals. IL-2 can't afford to cater only to the biggest spenders. I do think that you made some questionable choices: - The best gaming processor right now, especially for simming, is the 7800X3D. It's very affordable for the performance. This also gives you more room to upgrade, since new generations of processors will come out for the AM5-platform, but not for the Intel LGA1700 platform. - You should really go for DDR5 now - Don't get the much slower SATA drives, but get your storage as NVMe (M.2) drives. - I'd get a bit bigger power supply, just so you have room to upgrade. 750 or 850 Watt leaves you a lot more room. - The DeepCool AK620 cooler offers very good cooling for a bit less. - I'd not get the 4060 Ti. It's really rather poor value. For that price category I'd get the 7700 XT instead, which is faster and not more expensive. Or you can go up in price and go for the 7800 XT, 4070 or 4070 Super. Note that the video card is the most significant item to be able to run higher settings, so this is the place to invest in most if you can stretch the budget. So I'd get something more like the config below. Of course, don't be afraid to vary according to your preferences, but I'd suggest you keep my comments above in mind. PS. Don't get the 'free' anti-virus. It's just bloatware that will slow down your system and potentially cause other issues, but is no better than the standard anti-virus that is already shipped with Windows. 1
Isra Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 (edited) You will hear a lot of things from different people, but just my two cents ... I support what @Aapje says ... I just got a new rig, 7800X3D + DDR5 + Nvidia 4070 Super and I can run Il-2 on ULTRA (everything maxed) and this thing does not event notice it ... I'm having a blast It does not help to score kills, but at least I die in nice graphics 😁 Edited July 18, 2024 by EggMan_ 1
DD_Crash Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 (edited) Since you are in the UK have a look at Overclockers UKhttps://forums.overclockers.co.uk/ as it has lots of sub forums like graphics, cpu, cooling memory etc Edited July 18, 2024 by DD_Crash
kendo Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Intel are launching new desktop processors by the end of the year. I understand they will use a new LGA 1851 socket, replacing the current LGA 1700. So buying Intel current processors is likely to be a bit of a dead end as far as upgrade potential goes. Personally I'm waiting until then, and as Korea won't be out until 2025 there is no rush. Expect a big performance jump too though no firm details as to how big yet.
Aapje Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Intel has a policy of supported two generations per socket, which is not great and leaves them behind AMD. But perhaps they'll change this in the future, since it seems like a relatively easy way to make up ground.
