Can be for IL-2:GB improvements of communication with AI planes / Ground Control expected or only for Korea?

Does any body know if something about this topic has been mentioned / announced by the developers:

-Improvement of communication with AI planes?

-Improvement of communication with AI ground control / AI radar stations?

(for these tasks I am using since 2017 primitive work arounds / makeshift solutions)

It would seem there will be few core improvements to the GB engine as development has moved on to a new one based on the old one. There will be more content for some time, but it seems like GB is beginning to sing its swan song.

if they planed on big improvments to GB they would not split thngs up, Korea in upgraded engine pays off upgrades, making just upgrades for GB dosent pay of, it would take work to do things in this game , work that no one would pay, so i expect some simple improvments, but nothing to complex like AI stuff

The idea that making improvements in IL-2 will not pay assumes that there is no potential for new customers and that nobody else will buy IL-2.  There still is no WWII flight sim as compelling as IL-2, and making it better could attract more customers.  But I suppose spending more money on it might have become a riskier proposition due to its aging foundation, hence the new sim.  If so, I hope that the new sim returns to WWII, as there is still so much uncovered ground (or maybe that should be air).

The AI is going to be improved and is something we've mentioned in our announcements.

Again, I again ask that people be patient and wait for us to discuss the many things about the project that we have yet to reveal.

Please reveal!  We are all waiting at the edge of our cockpit seats.

When was this Luke? I seem to have missed it? I just recall the discussion of how difficult it is to find AI programmers with the talent to deal with the complexity inherent in flight.

I'm pretty keen on seeing AI spotting and attention realism improved (DCS recently announced AI ground vehicles were getting their AI awareness system, and it is one area where this series could be lagging). So I'm quite eager for news on this front myself :)

AI improvements, like all the other big improvements for the new project, but only small bugfixes and improvements for GB. That is what the developers said.

All in good time. 🙂

It was mentioned in Dev Blog #1 in regard to radio comms. There are some other things planned that we haven't talked about yet, but if it all works right should make a big difference over what we have right now.

Ah, okay! I recall that. It wasn't very clear though.

I really think spotting needs a rework (clouds, field of view, scan times etc.)! I'm hoping that'll be part of it.

If I recall correctly, Aces Over Europe and Aces of the Pacific had a neat system where aircraft would call out what they are seeing (e.g. 'three ships, one o'clock' or 'one destroyer, two transports ahead'). It would have been really cool if the co-pilot in the Mosquito did that, or other aircrews, or the driver in your tank!

So, you see, my mind is trying to combine the AI perception/spotting and AI radio communications in order to give me more hope of an improvement there.

Thanks, this I had in mind, but I was not sure if was for Great Battles or for the new Korea.

From my personal point of view very importent for realistic missions / careers:

-Radio warnings by your wingmen / flight members if enemies are closing / attacking. //Very importent for realistic gemeplay, when a career is ended when the pilot is shot down.

-from my point of view complex to be implemented, direction from where the enemy closes is required)

(is in IL2 1946 available, but sometimes a bit unrealistic, because you were warned by your wingmen, even when they were 20km away)

(with my current wingmen audio or subtitle warnings I create warnings, (only if a friendly plane is closer than 2.5km), with a random probability of ca. 30% (10km) to 80% (500m), but I am not able to consider the direction of the enemy).

Radio Warnings by your airfield's tower, ground observers: //Very importent for realistic gemeplay, when a career is ended when the pilot is shot down.

-from my point of view easy to be implemented

(After I have been shot down 1 time over my airfield short before landing and no one had warned me although I should have radio contact, I have implemented a primitive solution: A group of check zones with subtitles, placed at the center of the airfield, with for each 0°, 45°, ... direction 2 checkzones in different distances and subtitle warnings, or for my wingmen warning messages very simplified: I assume that I have radio contact to all nearby ground troops closer than 4km (of course a bit unrealistic) and that they will warn me with some reduced random probability)

-Messages of enemy plane grid position (Sightings of enemy planes by observers, other planes, radio direction finding)

-from my point of view easy to be implemented

(I do that currently with checkzones/ subtitles)

-for Western Front 40-45 missions importent: Radar Messages

Required is bearing, range, target heading, and target altidute (depending on the radar type)

from my point of view complex to be implemented

Ask ground control / nearby planes of other units for help :

Importent, this feature was available in many flight sims, e.g: IL2 1946)

Ask ground control for heading to home base:

(is in many simulations, e.g. IL2 1946, CLOD available)

From my point of view it should be available, but each request should take some time until the direction has been detected and reported. And between each request there should be minimum time of e.g.: 5 minutes.

If Player is Wingman he shall be able sent a warning radio message, if enemies are closing / to report targets.

That's a great list of sound features I'd also love to see added to a future update to Great Battles.

In Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 I appreciate being able to assign targets to various flights under my command, for example having the first flight attack enemy bombers and the second their fighter cover.  And receiving a verbal acknowledgment when orders are given is very reassuring as well.
