AndyJWest Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Tailslides are always a bit of an unknown, and this one resulted in an inverted flat spin. The engine definitely didn't like it. 3 1
Sheriff88 Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Ta 152 has basically fatal flat spin. It maybe only aircraft in game in which I've experienced a flat spin. Still getting acquainted with it.
JG27*PapaFly Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) Nice vid! It spun because you ran a high power setting up to the very top of the zoom, which resulted in a torque roll at the top. When it flipped, you had very limited control authority to counter gyro forces. Power back near the top of a zoom for a tail slide, which is in general very benign because gyro forces, torque, and prop-wash are minimal. If you set up a nice unbiased tailslide, you can maintain the nose up vertical attitude while sliding backwards for a few dozen meters by reverse-controlling elevator and rudder. Spitfires are also easy to flat spin inverted. Edited July 19, 2024 by JG27*PapaFly
