Your best Ta-152 aerobatics? Using uniqueness.

One thing I've noticed about the TA is that it is somewhat unstable. However, with its long wings and tail it is very easy to recover from the beginning of a spin. Long moment arms also give it a lot of rotational inertia.

This means one can enter and exit spins safely, and quickly cross between uncontrolled and controlled flight. It can do things one would normally expect of only a Su-37 with thrust vectoring (is almost supermanoeuvrable in its own weird way). I've even almost successfully pulled of a cobra manoeuvre!

So what have you been able to do? Shall we have an impromptu aerobatic competition?

I'm not sure about always entering and exiting spins safely. I managed to kill the engine doing that at high altitude, though I was being rather rough with it.

As for rotational inertia, it certainly has enough to make it handle differently from most single-seaters. It definitely needs more rudder input to enter and exit turns properly . I think it may actually be a bonus on takeoff and landing, as it seems less inclined to swing due to P-factor/torque effects.

Edit: I've just managed to do a tail slide into an inverted flat spin. The engine cut twice briefly as I recovered, and sounded very rough afterwards. It probably doesn't like sustained negative G. I'll see if I can upload a video tomorrow.

Yeah, sometimes my engine isn't happy afterwards... I should probably look into whether throttling down helps (or other mitigation efforts)... but it is also true that I can afford to reduce the lifespan of a virtual engine if it leads to better tricks... and the flames coming out of the engine exhausts look pretty rad.

I had it "slip out" from under me during a fight against an AI P39 last night.  Recovery was easy and reminded me of the rudder work I normally associate with WW1 kites.

It does roll better than I expected, but it's certainly no A3 in that regard.  It's perfectly acceptable in the low altitude arena doing A2A maneuvers, with the caveat that you don't "yank and bank".  Keep it smooth and keep your speed up and you can prevail.

Now I need to set up some high altitude scenarios against P47s and Mustangs.

On my first flight in multiplayer i was able to shoot down a Spitfire. Then, chased by another Spit i was able to get her of my six by diving and making a very sharp turn which put be behind it. I recognised with satisfaction that the TA gains speed very fast after turning. Its very unique for me to close in an later war allied plane after a turn so i put it here. Sorry no fancy aerobatics ;-)
