II./ZG76_Lent_ Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 (edited) There seems to be a typo/mistake in regards to the Bf-110E2 engine variant in the game Il2 BOS/etc... The Bf-110E2 was equipped with the DB-601 N engine but the performance data is showing the Bf-110E2 has the DB-601 A installed. Can the developer team please take look and confirm if it's a typo? If it's not a typo, could the team investigate and see if they would be willing to install the correct engine variant "DB 601N" for the Bf-110E2. I have screen shots attached below showing the engine variant conflict within Il2 own website material and performance information. Please advise and thank you for all your dedication and hard work. The community if very grateful. Kind regards. Edited June 20, 2024 by II./ZG76_Lent_ 3
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 S! 110E-2 uses an engine that was on prototypes and pre production planes. It should be the better one. If I recall right the engine IL-2 uses was on about 10-20 planes of E-0 series...
II./ZG76_Lent_ Posted June 20, 2024 Author Posted June 20, 2024 (edited) Hello, The E model prototypes/ early variants (E-0, E-1's) may/could have had the DB-601A engines but once the E-2 variant was put into production the engines were all ordered to have installed the DB 601 N engines per RLM specifications. It is possible to have a odd ball few with the 601A engines(maybe supply and demand availability issues). All books and historical data reveal overwhelmingly the E-2 carried( or should have carried) the DB-601 N. This increased horse power and performance of the DB-601 N due to redesigned cylinder heads and manifold pressure, also higher octane /C3 synthetic fuel types being used etc. This performance engine upgrade was required due to increased bomb load that the Bf-110 E2 could carry on belly but also on wings. Performance data shown from Il2 teams documentation is conflicted in its historical data and performance data from their own website. I just want to know if it's a typo or it's truly correct or if the team had a explanation or documentation / resources showing Bf-110 E2 variants were specifically equipped with the DB-601 A engines. To reiterate or to be clear, the Il2 teams actual website says the Bf110 E2 was installed DB-601 N under museum /history tab, then under specifications tab under it says it has DB-601A. Kind regards. LLv34_Flanker Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 S! If recall right the only real difference between P and N was the gear ratio. 110 with P had slightly different gear ratio than 109 with N.
FeuerFliegen Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Seems like it wouldn't have been much extra work to give it the DB601P engine as it's basically the same engine as the Bf109 F-2 with the DB601N
