ROF compatibility mode with the IL-2 Flying Circus?

Is there any expectation that someone who bought ROF and invested in the game will be able to play against IL-2 Flying Circus players?
It's unfair for anyone who has already spent money on ROF to have a game that is completely stagnant.

It's not really technically possible to do that, while providing a fair experience. And ROF is a 2009 game. It's not reasonable to expect development on a game to continu forever.

I don't understand how it can't be technically possible if they're the same game.
Even the Flying Circus planes use the same 3D models and flight models as the ROF.

It's not the same game. The game engine is different. The map is different. The flight models are not exactly the same.

There's always SP.

And wouldn't it be possible to have just one server with one map, where both could play together?

Nope.  Apples and Oranges.

Flying Circus is the rebuilding of a lot of the Rise of Flight content in a newer version of the game engine that was developed over a decade during the Great Battles series. Gun dispersion is lower, the damage models were reworked, there is a new system for clouds - a lot of features that lead to potential incompatibilities in gameplay.

Flying Circus is also basically the same content, except for replacing the maps, and a few changes to the list of aircraft (the SSW D.IV and the Sopwith Snipe were added, but the seaplanes/floatplanes and the Russian aircraft that were in Rise of Flight haven't been added).

I think abandoning the ROF was not a good idea.
They should upgrade the ROF with BOS technology and allow them to fly together.

The next time you develop a combat flight sim you will get to make that decision.

Well, it sort of already happened - and it is called Flying Circus.

I suppose I could have included it in that list.
