I'm having difficulty understanding the difference between Object link and Target link.  When and where are they used, and why?

Can someone explain the concept for me.  I have used the Mission Editor and loaded a plane at Lupino and then successfully flown it using Sturmovik.  I've printed out the 370 pages of the manual and am in the process of studying it.  I have tried (unsuccessfully so far) to follow a video to get a plane to fly from one airfield to another,  which utilized object and target links, so I know that they are important and I would like to be able to use them and understand what they actually do.  Can anyone share some words of wisdom for me?  Thanks in advance for any help.

They are outputs used by the various MCUs to determine how they act.  Some use just one or the other, some use both.  In the manual, there’s a section that describes each of the different MCUs and it will tell you what to do with the target and/or object links.

For example, the cover MCU is used to make an airplane escort another plane.  The target link defines what is being escorted, and the object link defines what is doing the escorting.

When you are starting out, just look up the various MCUs you are using to make sure you are linking things properly.

In the simplest terms :

Target links (red) connect commands and instructions.

Object links (green) connect to planes, trains, automobiles, artillery etc..

Before you can connect anything to an 'object', you must click 'create linked entity' in the properties box.

The general principle is as follows:

A Target link has the meaning of "Transmitting an Action" from an MCU to another MCU.

An Object link means "Transmitting an Action" from an MCU to an "Object".

An Object can be Planes, Trains, Ships, Vehicles, Artillery..

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  Your comments will be very helpful to me as I continue to study and create various missions of my own.
