What' are newest and upcomung VR headsets to look forward to?

Obviously the Pimax Crystal Light which should be the price/performance king for simming.

 

The Somnium VR1 seems very impressive, albeit even heavier than the Pimax Crystal and quite expensive.

 

The VARJO XR-4, but this is more of a company-focused headset which will be very expensive and probably not that great for simming.

 

The Quest 3 Lite seems to really be coming now, but is probably not going to be great. Perhaps OK in the budget category, but even then a second hand Quest 2 is likely to beat it.

 

Other than that I don't think that there is anything either close to release or that we know enough about.

Yeah, crystal lite, the only purpose built for PCVR on the horizon, at its price point it's a no brainer for flight sims.  From what I understand the Varjo XR-4 is delayed due to software problems, so not looking so good, maybe a bit too complex this time around.  Quest, meh, who wants a battery dependent system with no direct PC connect, certainly not me, eat it zukkerman.

What is happening with Big Screen VR- it showed some promise as a light weight high performance headset..?🤔

Narrow field of view, for may the sweet spot is temperamental with a fixed IPD and the custom fit.  It's an excellent headset to watch movies in as intended, for sims where your moving about and very active not so much.

Pimax has announced the Crystal Super which supposedly will come out either in Q4 of 2024 or Q1 of 2025. it's sports interchangeable QLED versus OLED displays, with the QLED displays likely better for flight simulation. I hope that this was not just a "April fools joke!"  since I am still running an Nvidia 3070 card, I figure that I will wait until the 5000 series cards are available, upgrade then, and then see what the best headset is currently available at that time to replace my HP Reverb G2.

But looks like the next 5000 gen won't be here this year, or so the rumors say... 😅
