A workaround for Drop Tanks

As far as I know, it’s just not possible for Drop Tanks to be added into IL-2 GBs and for them to be used as they were in reality/as players would like them to. However, we do need Drop Tanks in the game. Yes, the BoN and BoBP maps aren’t combined which would allow for P-51 bombers escort missions from England to Germany, but there are some planes like the Spitfire Mk. XIV which if you fly it from one end of the BoN and BoBP map and back without engaging the enemy or orbiting you’d run out of fuel or land at bingo fuel.

 

There are several workarounds to this but the one I’m proposing — for those who want to fly the whole mission from takeoff to landing — is that if the aircraft carried Drop Tanks and they are essential for the mission then the starting fuel can be set to 130% or 150% to simulate the fuel load if it was carrying Drop Tanks. Bombers and dive bombers are excluded from this, as well as Soviet planes and Axis aircraft from BoM to BoK unless there were more than a few missions on these maps where they did need to carry Drop Tanks.

That boat has sailed. They are not capable of the work required to make it work in this engine, so they intend for the new one to be more conducive to this and many other absent or incomplete systems.

Well, there is still the possibility of releasing entirely cosmetic ones?
