• An experimental V-2 rocket falls intact into shallow marsh of the River Bug in Poland. Members of the Polish Underground arrive first, pushing the pieces deeper into the water, then driving cattle into the area to drink. The ‘cowherds’ tell searching Germans that the cattle have been there since the day before and nothing has been seen. It will take more than a week for the Germans to call off the search.

 

- Once the area is clear, components of the rocket will be dismantled and flown out from a rough strip on an RAF Dakota from Italy with a mixed British and Free Polish crew.
