The filename is still the same. Thank you for being as you wrote "a perfectionist"! I'm not sure why I missed that, but it might have something to do with me "borrowing" parts from other birds I've already made and I simply forgot and/or missed my mistake. So, please keep your perfectionism to the highest level

Gedm Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Well.. I do have one 51-D request but don't have an illustration of it in the unpainted "D" model. It's Captain Don Gentile, 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, Shangri-la. Be it painted or not, your expertise would be much appreciated

Yeah I think she's already been painted... but I'll give it a shot Give me some time and I'll get back to you, okay? Well, I don't think there's a P-51D-25-NA version of Shangri-La, and I'm pretty sure why. That checkered red/white nose... is a f"#/-ing nightmare to paint. To be honest, not sure I'll pull it of. In any case it will take way longer than just a day or so... try weeks!!! So, I'll get back when I have any relevant info on this. It's not the one above But this one Edited September 14, 2024 by III/JG53*Viper Update 1
Gedm Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Oh my gosh, I had no idea of the difficulties involved in the skinning of this particular aircraft. The photo you found is the version I was thinking of and if it's going to be a headache then please ignore the request. I've wondered how the ground crews felt about painting such elaborate nose art back in the day and it seems skinning is a bit of an example. Thank you very much for the consideration. 1 1

III/JG53*Viper Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) Like it says! The upper part is pretty straight forward, but to match that with the underside of the fusulage... not so much! Btw... this is some extraordinary work, extremely good!!! Gedm Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Hey Y'all, if szelljr has already got the grey hair making the skin, I would be totally satisfied with another master skinners iteration of Shangri-la. If its in the forum, I'll give it another look. Cheers! 2

Gedm Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Wow! Beautifully done III/JG53*Viper. Major Gentile embodied the traits of a true fighter pilot from what I've read and his mounts, I believe, definitely represented that spirit. I'm in your debt and truly appreciate your expertise and efforts at skinning these legendary warbird representations. Thank you! 1 1

That was "Sweet Clara II" "Both Cantacuzino and Gunn soon found themselves at headquarters in Bari. Events followed in rapid succession. The 15th Air Force decided to organize a rescue bridge. But first, Cantacuzino and two other American pilots were to fly back to Romania to check the situation on the spot. But Cantacuzin's Messerschmitt was out of order. For a number of American pilots, an airworthy enemy fighter parked directly at their airport was an irresistible challenge, and during one of the "test" flights, one of the Americans could not manage the landing maneuver behind the stick and irreparably damaged the German aircraft. Bazu had to get (to his great joy) a P-51 Mustang fighter. Although he had never sat in it, he already performed several acrobatic numbers during his first training flight." http://www.radiodixie.cz/clanek/rumunsky-princ-v-kokpitu-messerschmittu-s-hvezdami-a-pruhy 1 1
