Just curious about radar ... radar seems to be able to detect enemy planes (ships too?), but can you do something with that like triggering a scramble plane flight to go after the enemies? Awaken (activate, even spawn) coastal cannons?

Since the radar stations are vehicles, you can give them a spotter radius and use them to detect enemy and direct fighter planes to cover them when they activate. Depending on the attack area linked to the spotter, they would attack air or ground targets. You could use a proximity or check zones to spawn/activate the enemy flight and the radar spotter radius at the same or different times. I'm not sure if a coastal AAA battery can "cover" a radar installation, but since it's stationary, if it was activated by a check zone it would do the same thing.

I don't think the radar detection range itself will trigger anything, but it could be done in the other ways.

Thanks. Tried spotter set to 20, and 500. Now again not marked (off) for the vehicle type (there are some building type blocks for radar as well).

Spotter not marked according to Jim's manual sets 10000 m spotting automatically. As such the vehicles show on the pilot map.

Now trying 1000 for spotter.

Add Report and On Area Attacked seems the only way to get any external function triggered by a vehicle.

Guess the old CZ must do any trickery then.

There are several ways to do this.

The most simple solution that I know of is using a vehicle as spotter and an attack area command object-linked to an enabled vehicle, like:

Translator Mission Begin -> Trigger Timer -> command Attack Area -> Vehicle (see attached, and adjust distance/coalition to your liking).

As a player you simply fly over this to 'connect' with the vehicle who will then report to all whenever enemies enter the combat zone defined in the command Attack Area. Or you can use a command Cover (target-linked to the vehicle and object-linked to a friendly a/c) to connect an AI plane. Or if you want to try something really funky, you can use a Translator AI POI to make AI planes fly over the vehicle and connect - that way any plane can connect, though only one at a time. The idea here being that if you use respawning, there'll always be someone picking up messages from the vehicle.

One thing I've so far not been able to figure out is that the vehicle seems to have a limited range of 25 kilometres in the sense that it will issue a return to base command when the connected plane is further away than that. No biggie but it does sound kind of silly in the context of a major furball.

You can easily create much more complex ones with on/off triggers that direct and re-direct flights or spawn stuff.
