Future Mosquito missions

Hi All, I know that this could be something of a tall order, but I was wondering if one or more of our talented mission/campaign creators

would consider creating one or more of the historical Mosquito missions of World War Two . Operation Jericho the attack on Amiens prison

and operation Carthage the attack on the Gestapo HQ Copenhagen, there was also a raid carried out on the Gestapo HQ in Oslo, Norway

This I understand could only be historically accurate if sometime in the future a map of Scandinavia {Denmark and Norway} would become available.

Cheers

Operation Jericho the attack on Amiens prison...

I'm pretty sure this has been done. Did you thoroughly search the missions forum?

i wonder if you can get 19 mosquitos up in the IL2 sky together with AAA and some ground activities to reach any "historical" level for a Jericho mission running on a less than a top notch gaming computer. You will need a skilled mission maker for tha amount of planes maybe, which at least i am not LoL.

But here's a quick and dirty one with 4 mosquitos.

BTW Amiens is near the edge of the Normandy map, and i could not find a way to get bombs loaded, so use rockets instead ...
F12 is for two cameras to watch the show on auto pilot.

Fictional 663 Squadron mission deep in a faux Norwegian fiord?

19 Mosquitos with AAA should not be a problem. I have located the spot where the prison was on the map in a previous post by superimposing a google map over the game map. I read that the tree lines are in the wrong place preventing a skip bombing attack from the correct direction, but now that we can remove trees all it should take is removing the trees and including an altered ground texture file with the mission.

Edit... OK, so after doing a search for "Jericho" I failed to find anything except the thread linked above. I might take a stab at it.

Happy wood chopping then .... but getting them mosquitos to take out only the prison walls one probably would need a specially adapted compound.

The 'sight-nmd-winchester' building has nice walls, but setting it up as linked entity will only blow up the 'prison' itself.

Yeah, it might take some custom damage modeling, haha. I'll take a look, I don't really know much about the mission at the moment.

In the above mission i used your prison location posted elsewhere. If needed feel free to use it for starters.

I´m pretty sure attacking radar-installations was a thing back then. Would be nice to have some mossie missions reflect that.

Yes, radar installations and noball sites. I would do a campaign if it wasn't for the repetitive cross channel trips, but a few single missions might be fun. I really like the Mossie except for the co-pilot. He's kind of creepy.

Why don't people like the cross channel? It's not the only long flight in the game. Isn't it supposed to be a flight sim after all, and the flight part is the fun part? 😅

I dont mind crossing the channel. There is a time acceleration function after all. When playing career mode you cross the channel all the time.

I agree. If you disable all the vehicles, AAA and such around home base and use 8x, it only takes about 6 or 8 minutes. It's also more fun at low altitude.

The pilot is OK then? IMO twins LoL. Wish i could replace then with something like Laurel and Hardy or Tommy Cooper..

BTW Amiens is really on the edge of the Normandy map, and might cause Ai and player errors trying to set up a proper Jericho mission or campaign in that area ....

Some general Mosquito anti radar campaign might be a better plan.

Both are creepy and it's just wrong. The pilot should be bigger than the nav for a start and ruggedly handsome whilst the nav, being no threat to the pilot's sexual conquests, should be short yet efficient. I can't understand how the devs got it so wrong?
