SR-F_Winger Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 (edited) Hello Guys, i found an associate that will be taking over the bigger part of the Kit work. He will be preparing the kits like before. He will be taking over the packing of the parts and partial preassembly. Also Customer relations as well as sales and all responsibilities that come with it. I will be there in the background providing the 3D printed parts in the learned quality. His name is Rolf (ZG15_kaltokr). He will be introducing himself in this thread. Now for some facts on the kit: The kit is based on the awesome work of @Protomaker964 and for sure Walmis from VPForce - so big Kudos and thanks for your work and allowing for providing the kits to the community! The Kit comes with a two part Gimbal design (just like the original Rhino). The lower part comes printed in 100% Infill material from carbon reinforced PETG-CF. The lower part is connectzed to the upper Stick connector using a 20x20 aluminium profile. The DIN Connector block and cable are riginal VPForce parts. The Uppoer Stick connector comes printed from laser sinteres PA12 plastick wich is very durable and not prone to break. This connector is an official VPForce 3D model and therefor is directly compatible with the Upgrade CNC machined connector that is available as an optional upgrade in the VPForce store. The Housing comes printed from PETG with 5 Walls, Roofs and bottom layers with 35% infill wich provides for a very sturdy structure. The kit includes all needed screws neatly bagged in labeled plastic bags. The internal power wiring comes pre crimped and pre assembled to the complete assembly is SOLDER FREE! Other than this kit and the VPForce motor kit you will need a psu. There is good cheap solutions for around 50 to 80 bucks all around the world. Closer information on specifications and connector needed can be found in the assembly instructions. All you need to complete the Rhino assembly in a day is: Basic tools like allen keys and screw drivers 2x57BLF03 + USB Kit from VPForce store a wire end ferrule crimper (all cables in the kit come pre crimped but the power cables of the motor kit have to be crimped with wire end ferrules). Some patience. The Assembly can be done in one evening. Price of the kit is 449,- plus shipping. Shipping worldwide is possible. Together with the Price for the VPForce motor kit following over all price (roughly) the rhino will set you back 678,- 299,- Motor Kit 449,- DIY Kit Additional you will face the cost for shipping (depending on your location varying) and depending on your needs a PSU (roughly 60-80 Bucks) So if you want to be part of the "VPForce Forced flying community" in roughly 2 weeks (deliverytimes may vary) contact ZG15_kaltokr CHEERS and happy flying! The Belt covers shown in the picture are an optional upgrade. For more info contact Rolf please. Edited August 4, 2024 by SR-FWinger
Aapje Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 The motor kit from VPForce would be 300 euro + ~ 40 (EU) or 80 (US) euro in shipping. And a 180 W/20 V power supply should be around 30 euros from AliExpress. I guess that you would still need to make/get a power cable to connect the power supply to the base & an USB A/B cable? So a total cost of at least 920 euros with all shipping costs (to Germany) included, if I'm not mistaken.
SR-F_Winger Posted May 2, 2024 Author Posted May 2, 2024 (edited) Price for shipping on the kit from VPForce depends on where you are located. Regarding cables youre right. You need the PSU (180W+ with 9A and 5,5x2,1 male DC plug) and a USB a to USB B cable. Other than that everything is included. crimp pliers would also be good to attach wire endings on the VPForce motor power cables. They come without connectors. Kit like this will do: https://www.amazon.de/Crimpzangen-Aderendhülsen-Kabelschuhe-Kabelschuhzange-Ergonomischer/dp/B0BMWSN4D3/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=NSVGY929Y1T6&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ASZm9DeJcPwK6NbC8qlAXXivPvlNFrqC4TfFw6jNYK6cUiyl9xF6n6_I6c9HcAMWwcn--66Ty6skHuKs-j7m1fi82uJ71DIIDHko4qgaMUs8mLOeHal1XAqL0F5qS1KVqAc66xSgO7QdqrjM8gUYeEL3bh4VPnLteelqwBXS5I0ub2Pe8wb4wJduFN4JaJHgjkWoaTuM6UCtTeCEDwUJBgGo_AYF6fEqGwYQm4G-NsN1DjKQNMF40gOrbvDshJzFV8xApTsSkMwRiEyoHlFDm6Mnp9lPYgJhMjcf_grlNgY.99psg5eDIxYbMZAs0YTdygoePAptEZyEVFqmRmRIDFA&dib_tag=se&keywords=aderendhülsen&qid=1714656916&sprefix=aderendhülsen%2Caps%2C113&sr=8-5 Price aproximation is kind of on spot. Diverzant Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Hello everyone, as a fresh member of the DIY Rhino club I would like to give my 2 cents about it. Starting from beggining the packaging labeling etc was done imaculate. Gymbal is preassembled and comes in a comfy foam cushion. The parts themselves, being sceptical about 3D printed stuff really blew me away how tough and good theyve been done (not a single thread destroyed by me lol) Overall everything fits VERY nicely and snug so you dont have play or that you need to file off a piece or something like that. I hate the fucking retainers, thats all Im gonna say about them lol. Winger was with me the whole way through the process with tips and help although I think I went easy on him with as few questions as I had Really, thanks @Winger for all the help! Basically it all comes down to this. If you want a Rhino but dont want to wait and you know which way to turn the screw to tighten it and you did it a few times in life you will have absolutely no problem assemblying it yourself. Theres literally not a single reason to be sceptical or afraid of going the DIY route. Im eager to see how it compares directly to the actual Rhino from Walmis since I will be getting that aswell so I might exapnd on this topic. Thats all from me, now go write Winger and get your DIY Rhino! You cant imagine what difference it makes for me in DCS but I doubt its anything less than impressive in IL2 aswell! 1
SRF_kaltokri Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Hi, I'm kaltokri and I will be selling the do-it-yourself kits for building the Rhino from now on. Winger prints all the parts (so that the quality is as usual) and I put the kits together and take care of the customer contact. For questions or orders please send me a PN here in the forum or an e-mail to rolf.geuenich AT gmail.com 1
killerjoey55 Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Happy customer here, the kit was fantastic! Everything was packaged well, instructions were easy to follow, and I was impressed by the quality of all the parts. Have had my rhino assembled and been using it for about a month now without any issues @Winger was super helpful for any questions I had. Highly recommend anyone considering a rhino to look at one of these kits. 1 1

Its simply a one of a kid experience to fly with FFB. Once you go there you cant go back!😀
SRF_kaltokri Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 New Rhino Do-It-Yourself-Kits are available now. Just send me a PN if someone would like to order one.
SRF_kaltokri Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 There are only 5 kits left. In these kits the gimbal was printed with PETG-CF. For new kits after that we will switch to standard PETG. It is sufficient in terms of stability and simplifies processing. But if you would still like to have PETG-CF, you should buy it now.

SR-F_Winger Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 have fun building mate and even more flying! just a recommendation: Use wire end ferrules for the motor power cables. Like the ones that come woth the prepared internal power cables. Helps to prevent connectivity issues.

I put them to both motor cables positive and negative? OK I see what wire end ferrules is...but since I cannot cut any more wire from both motor cables to show as a sample to the electronics store....do you know what is the size of ferrules or alternately the size of the motor cables to choose the right one ferrules? Thanks Edited September 14, 2024 by dgiatr
SR-F_Winger Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) Hey. No need to cut more cable. Just stick them over your current length cable. will not get shorter from applying a ferrule. 1,5mm2 should fit for the motor powercables. Edited September 16, 2024 by SR-F_Winger

I am trying to make my diy ffb rhino ( Winger ) to work with IL2 sturmovik and have an issue with that. I only use Rhino ffb configurator not telemffb yet and i am loosing spring tension effect while trying to fly in IL2. I have enabled ffb inside il2 and when i disable it i am not loosing spring effect from my ffb rhino joystick. I have read somewhere else for another guy facing the same issue. I also face regular il2 crashes ( game suddenly stops and throws me out) when i use diy rhino ffb. Any solution to this? Thanks!
SR-F_Winger Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Hi Mate. I also answered in discord. There is No reason Not to use telemffb. Just use IT. IT gives you all the effects goodness that Actually Sets the rhino so far apart from everything else in the Market. Believe me. Effects are so much more sophisticated and configurable using telemffb. Without IT you only habe Access to the Basic shitty directx effects.

SRF_kaltokri Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 The aluminum Pulley is on the picture. But the printed 74T pulleys is not on the picture. But it is included in the kit.
SRF_kaltokri Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 For the next three Rhino Joystick DIY kits I am offering a new free service. I will assemble all parts as far as possible. This means that the customer only needs to add the motors, aluminum pulleys, belts, mainboard and wiring. Then he screws on the front and base plate and the Rhino is finished. It is also possible to order a completely built DIY Rhino Joystick from me. Both ways lead to a Rhino joystick without a long waiting time. Please contact me via PM if you are interested.
SRF_kaltokri Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 The final version of the RhinoTPR-Tiger-DIY-Kit-Inside-Version is done. On Monday a delivery of smooth pulleys will arrive, so I can sell this kit now. It will cost 159.- € + shipping. For details see the FAQ. If you have questions or want to order send me a PN. Next project will be the RhinoTPR-Tiger-DIY-Kit-Outside-Version, where no drilling is needed, but the motor is placed outside of the the TPR. This needs more space behind your TPR in your SimRig. Whereas the inside version looks cleaner.
GVL224 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 What is the maximum force on the pedals and how long does it take to decrease?
SRF_kaltokri Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I don't know and I can't measure it either. Even the power of the small 57BLF03 in my RhinoMFG is enough for me. And the RhinoTPR uses the larger and more powerful 86BLF04. According to the data sheet, the 86BLF04 has 1.4 Nm continuous torque and 4.2 Nm peak torque. But to be honest, I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in sensory feedback and not in training my leg muscles. If you want maximum power, you have to go for the FFBeast stuff. I'm more than satisfied with the VPForce ecosystem. But in the end, it's a matter of personal taste. 1
Varibraun Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 @SRF_kaltokri How would you describe the difference in feel between the RhinoMFG and the RhinoTPR? I am currently using a TPR that I like a little better than my old MFGs, but am wondering which direction you would recommend with Rhino FFB added? Thank you!
